The problem with the story, in my opinion, isn't Natalia's anti-gay sentiments. That is relevant to talk about even today, I agree. My issue is that the whistleblower is the villain, not the person who did or said the thing, in the eyes of some people in Port Charles.

Ava, like Nina before her, is bad because she reveals Natalia's bigotry, and now people want to take her daughter away from her? I get it; Ava isn't a nice person, and she has done other things that might warrant her losing custody of her child, but no one is going to tell me what she did in this situation was any worse than anything Sonny has done in 30 years. Alexis could have killed someone anytime she was drunk had she been behind the wheel of a car, but she never lost her kids. Sonny recently beat up his daughter's boyfriend and paid no price for it. But he's the better parent for Avery?

I swear, these soaps need some reality in their stories. Be a soap, fine. But tell it like it makes some sense. I'm tired of being played for a fool by the writers of EVERY soap currently on air.

I am drawing a blank. When did this happen and what characters? It’s disgusting!

They used to be able to do this! Even something as grounded as BJ’s heart had Bobbie’s affair with Damian being exposed by Tony as she was being wheeled in to the ER.

Thanks for the tidbit. However, I must point out that when Giovanni was first announced to have joined the cast by Deadline, they reported his last name as Cerullo. Now, in the credits, he was given a different name (Palmieri), so I wonder if the writers decided to change it at the last minute but forgot to let the show's publicist know. Either way, I hope they have a plan for this character. Thus far, I'm pretty bored.

It's been a while, but IIRC Brad did this with Michael early on.

Soaps don't care about reality or day-to-day or buildup now because they think viewers are fools and it's easier for them to just stall and stall between the latest shock value moment.

Feels like they are just waiting until Taby leaves so they can say it was her own choice. She doesn't even seem to spend time with her own mother now.

I dont see anyone but possibly Sonny who's horny possibly giving Natalia a pass. Everyone else showed outrage at her comments

At the same time What Ava & Dewitt did was wrong. They outed Blaze without her consent.

It's because she isn't Carly / Sonny directly, and let's be real. The writer(s) are going to prop those two no matter what, and it's disgusting to see. If the roles were reversed and Carly leaked the tape, no one would be threatening to take Donna from her. Not even Sonny. It's disgusting, and it's a tired form of story-telling. Sonny has been active in the mob scene for years (even recently), and Ava has been out of it (aside from living with Sonny) and Carly ran the organization, and yet Ava is still not what's best for Avery... because she leaked a conversation to a tabloid and lives in a hotel?! Gimme a fücking break.

This is why a lot of us are enjoying international soaps, Errol. They don't play their audiences as dumb like American soaps.

Giovanni Mazza is a decent actor. Nothing special. And Gio (character) is giving a Cameron-Spencer hybrid replacement. And that's not what any kind of character should be giving in 2024.

I hope #GH wins best for best writing in 2025 just so Patrick Mulcahey can get an emmy

Episodes Monday-Wednesday defintley felt like major influence was Patrick Mulcahey. Friday's preview even seems like PM's pen. If this is his final week, PM went out strong. TY Patrick.

I like Gio. But as I said before, what is 'there' of the character? He's a nice boy who plays pretty music. Unless you're gonna go into a hot and heavy summer story with Trina rediscovering her passion with this innocent young man (good luck with the social media outcry watching a Black woman seduce a sweet white kid), there's not many layers yet. He seems to have little flaw. I wouldn't dump him or anything, but there needs to be a hook found. Maybe perfect musician Gio has a drug or self-harm habit related to his obsessive skills, or his imposter syndrome, etc.

As for Ava, if this show wanted to get really real they'd finally reveal what I've suspected since before Avery was born: That she is Morgan's, and that Carly has known for her entire life. She kept it from everyone because she knew Morgan was not ready to raise a child and wanted him kept away from Ava Jerome's influence. Then I'd kill the kid, and then the truth would come out.

The Sonny/Carly can do no wrong writing is exactly why I stopped watching the show for almost a decade I believe. I never understood how they were able to take Avery away from Ava in the first place all those years ago and now it makes even less sense.

This show will never be what it could be because it doesn’t matter who the writers are, except for that very brief period when RC really sidelined Sonny, the objective will always be to prop Sonny at the expense of other stronger characters and quite frankly actors.

    • I know some of y'all really like Brooke Kerr, and so I've tried to give her a shot, despite her frequent flat line readings and distracted "did I leave the front door unlocked?" facial expressions. But lord, she is so bad at playing a tough-talking badass that I was actually rooting for Brad today to spill the beans to Drew.
    • Googling does tend to ruin it.  For those of us who were teens in the late 1970s and early 1980s, you can't imagine how much fun it was to watch the show in the afternoons.  (It came on right after school.)  There weren't any "spoilers" at the time.  We would always try to anticipate how each crime and each mystery would be resolved, and we were ALWAYS wrong, because the stories are filled with so many weird twists and turns.   The head writer (Henry Slesar) and his dialogue writer (Steve Lehrman) invariably toss genuine clues directly into your face in the most unlikely ways, but then they provide a host of "red herrings" to completely confuse you and send you off on the wrong path.  Once the story reaches its conclusion, all you can think is Why didn't I figure that out weeks ago?  lol
    • Does the vault have the original scene and not the short flashback?
    • I appreciate that you are using AI with the knowledge of it's limitations. Some posters take everything it produces as fact.
    • And of course Mama Ru herself appeared on All My Children.
    • The Saturday 8pm slot usually had the lowest rating of the NBC 4 sitcom lineup for some reason. NBC let Saturday night fizzle, They used 9.30 pm to launch 227 and Amen, both of which moved to earlier in the evening but they  kept Empty Nest following GG for several seasons.  Empty Nest should have moved to 8pm with their strongest new sitcom at 9.30, anticipating that GG would eventually falter. Instead they left them there and stretching the sitcom pool too thinly on other nights. When Grand talk over at 9.30 Thurs maybe Night Court and Wings could have been used on Saturday.
    • @Maxim Great to see your mini-reviews again. There are a number of clips on Youtube of Janice's slow mental breakdown, especially as we go into January 1980. Christine Jones is just superb. She played the hell out of that role. Something which isn't referenced as much later on is how Mitch pushed Janice's doubts and mental instability for his own ends...until suddenly he didn't want to anymore (I guess he caught on with the audience and the show became wary). I don't want to post a bunch of clips, but this one has a very good confrontation between Rachel and Janice.

This has a good scene around 7 minutes in where you can see Janice struggling internally with her need to identify herself so much by the men around her, all of which helps lead to her crackup.
    • It really made Oscar the Doorman seem like an imbecile.   I think the show's unusual format & subject manner is what makes EON often seem less "dated" and "old-fashioned" than other shows from that time period.  It never attempted to be especially "trendy" or "modern" -- and its film noir style is pretty timeless.
    • Dallas, Dynasty, Knots and Falcon Crest all had good runs but by 85 they had seen better days. I think they were a victim of the format. After several seasons seeing the same characters front and center viewers were bored. What was once fascinating grew predictable. JR, Alexis etc had to be front and center and after a while their schemes and shtick grew repetitive. JR remarrying Sue Ellen, Alexis constantly trying to get he better of Blake etc Unlike daytime, there wasn't the flexibility to bring in other stories and characters and maybe let the likes JR go backburner. That same mentality also invaded daytime with characters like  Sonny and Victor still peddling the same stuff after decades. I guess the same could be said for MSW eg every week Jessica encounters a crime and solves it,but I think viewers come to that format with a different mindset.
