How many times are they going to let Sonny, Jason and Carly not face consequences for their criminality?  Carly would be so much more interesting in prison.  They've fully ruined the Jagger Cates character turning him into another dumb loser to prop up Sonny, Jason and Carly.  This is as bad as those years in the 2000s when the show was always about that terrible trio and all the great characters played by better actors (Brenda, Faith, Alcazar, etc.) were ruined or sidelined to prop them up.

Why is that Wiley character in the opening?  He is no Lucky Spencer or even Spencer Cassadine-level good/important to be on there.  The opening sequence remains terrible.  I cannot believe it's lasted this long.  They need to just have a 5 second title card with the hospital backdrop.

I'm glad to see the actor playing Brennan back in a suit.  That was the only decent part of the whole episode.  He's a much better match for Anna than Valentine, too.

The lack of consequences for Sonny, Jason, and Carly is actually what ran me off the show for the better part of the last decade. I had been enjoying PM’s work but if these three are suddenly heroes again it will be a struggle for me. There are two returns I’m curious about that may keep me around briefly.

I’m only on 7/24 but Anna has basically been ruined in a matter of weeks.

Wiley was having a birthday party. He actually was born on July 30 in 2018.

Today's episode was for me. Nina and Willow getting along. Molly in scenes with Sonny and Dante. Maxie and Spinelli together. Diane doing her thing in court. James and Wiley playing togethers. Anna tracking down Brennan.

I don’t think I have seen a show unravel this slowly and so completely over such an extended time. Heads used to roll much quicker in the EP position than this.

Is this how people felt during the last year of Tom Donovan with the invasion of the Webbers? I was watching Monty’s second run through the transition to Riche and that was way more smooth than the last year of GH, and almost everything was public about the bts transition/troubles.

Maybe Rauch and Labine on GL? The public knew she was fired and then rehired because nobody else wanted the job, and that they were ultimately not a good fit and that he was still working to replace her. And Rauch was not easy to get along with, yet somehow managed in these circumstances to still produce her material without sabotaging it.

Seriously: What is the ending with Pikeman here? Are Brennan and Valentin good or bad? What exactly really happened? I don't get this and it seems like a quick post-PM rewrite to save both actors so they can chem test LW more with this dayplayer since Jason and Carly are again bust.

I don't know but it seems to me that this is what they were going for with Brennan. Of course we wondered why Carly kept going to see him & spilling her guts to him. Now it seems like her judgment of his character & her intuition, was sound.

I don't think that Valentin & Brennan end up in the same space, time or position.

So, I get that Jason, Carly, and Sonny are never going to do any serious jail time, but why do they constantly build up all this tension about someone holding charges against their head, when every single time, it gets dismissed immediately at the first court date? I mean unlike Y&R they actually have a courtroom set and money to hire a judge and lawyer with more than 5 lines, so they may as well just go through with the trials?

This also makes Jason look like a chump. It’s just over, and he spent years trying to keep her from being caught, and instead she went to court and it’s just resolved? If I was his kids I would be livid. Perfect place for Sam to light into both of them.

And as far as Valentin goes- he was the one that started messing with Sonny’s meds in the first place! The actor isn’t even on contract, hasn’t been, and he is being treated better than contract players.

Protecting characters that largely are not working is destroying the show. The correct decisions were made with Finn, Austin, Gregory, and I thought Valentin. Before Mulcahey I would have lumped Nina and Drewin there too, but he did bring some life to them.

Right, and so now Jagger is looking into charging Sonny... so what? If Sonny gets arrested, they will just go to court and say that Sonny is good and Jagger is mean to him, and the case will be dismissed. So why get invested.

It would actually be more badass if Jason and Sonny would just go around saying they DGAF about criminal charges.

I was only half watching when Brennan popped up (rare for me to even be caught up enough to post in here) and I literally lost the plot on what is happening there.

I think Brennan was a good guy and was a double agent within Pikeman. I think that Valentin was the Big Bad within Pikeman and his friendly interactions with Anna were always a subterfuge. Anna has no future with Valentin but Carly might have a future with Brennan.

    • Ohh, interesting. I instantly gravitated towards her in that episode. Of course I'm already hooked and want to know why she was trying to poison that older lady, but then how did the older lady know to switch the mugs so Susan drank her own poison...  but I have too many timelines I'm watching right now haha.  Oh, Bolger is definitely hot. I didn't realize he was on GL haha. I knew him from OLTL and other primetime stuff.
    • This is a effin shame. Eff Trump and eff the bastards that enable him.
    • I 100% agree but I think this is due to how the show is structured. It's a one family show which means there are no people in her age range that could be used as friends or contemporaries of her. The show definitely needs a second main family. I am glad someone finally said this. Especially now that the cast is gelling in their roles, he stands out like a sore thumb. No energy, no chemistry with anybody. He is just there.  I thought that was odd as well! The previous scene would've worked better as a tag for the credits.
    • That's the one and only Carrie Nye (Mrs. Dick Cavett) as Susan Piper, a deadly realtor. I don't want to spoil a lot if you ever want to see those episodes. She returns as another character in 2003. I think Grant has aged well and he always did a good job at being ripped without going too far, but he was never entirely my cup of tea either. I did think John Bolger was hot.
    • Totally agree. KKL looks great! It makes the Widge groveling so bizarre. Brooke needs to leave FC and with $B's/Liam's funding launch a rival fashion house with Hope, Rick, Katie and a secret designer. The best scenario is that Rick has been absent because he's been with very much alive C2, who is revealed on the runway as the secret designer. It'll never happen because B&B is comfortable just focusing on FC and the Forresters Marones v. Logans. But it'd been so much more interesting if the Spencers/Logans united.

    • Haha that scarf thing did go on a bit too long, very odd. And what a young Rick!  I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I just never got the physical appeal of Grant Aleksander, but he's definitely a great actor. Who is the older lady around the 8:30 mark, and also ends the episode, alone and in pain? She seems like a really interesting character. I love the smoky voice and sultry, snaky vibe she seems to have.
    • I can't remember exactly but I think she lives in or is part of the cottage story with Carrie. Carrie poisons her in this episode.  I forgot Teresa was on the show. (I see that AI is insisting she wasn't - well they're wrong) Poor Maeve. I can how even she had her limits.
    • It pisses me off that the other Duprees are making this incident all about them as well. They are playing a family of victims, acting as if Ted cheated on all of them. They should be supportive, but not like this. I have a family that makes anything that happens to me personally all about them, and seeing the same thing on TV is rage-inducing.
    • There are the makings of good Emmy reels in these past couple of episodes, but the industry is still going to favor even the most mediocre stories and performances on the older soaps. And with the pressure from the government over race I can see the academy shutting out Beyond The Gates to avoid criticism from the administration and the far right media.
