The fact remains that Mulcahey's work was the only stuff that's fully engaged me with this show for years. I'll miss what we've gotten (particularly if the Drew/Willow/Nina stuff is about to hit a new peak). I couldn't care less which kind of Sonny the general audience prefers, because I don't really care about Sonny much. Watching him spiral and the town turn on him properly has worked well for me. MB is barely able to function onscreen these days anyway.

Blaze I also couldn't care less about. But the turn to sympathizing with Natalia is clearly about protecting ELR's place on the show, who is yet another soap 'get' and going interest for Frank Valentini. That's not about PM.

I am impressed the Drew/Willow makeout sesh went to air. I thought they'd curtail this with the writing change before it got there, as this show has such allergy to actual soap and sin among the 'good' people.

I really hope that they take the route of having this all be just an elaborate scheme to get back at Nina for everything she did. It could be tied back to the PTSD thing that Chris and Dan were gonna do with Drew before the writer change.

I will say that I think they should have established a good conflict for Michael/Willow though, that way Willow would have a stronger reason to turn to Drew.

As for Cody, all I can say is, about time

I think that's another soap fake-out.

In the previews, Mac is heard saying "What did you say?" I think Cody then changes what he said, and that's why we see Maxie saying "Why did you lie?" to someone -- who I think is Cody.

They need to stop dragging this out.

Speaking of what could have been

Watching Nancy Curlee and Stephen Demorest on The Locher room

GH almost had Nancy Curlee as Head Writer in the mid-late 90s but she was expecting and dint wanna leave NY and her husband who was at ATWT at the time.

Drew is going to have an affair with Willow after having slept with Nina. He will have slept with both mother and daughter. Willow must find Michael boring.

Having Mac in the scenes today felt so good. I'm glad they finally got to his paternity reveal.

Sam trashed her mother's former newspaper!

Monica will never come out of her room until she dies.

I enjoyed Sasha and Nina together.

Heather's release is inevitable regardless of the opposition. It is better soap action to have her loose in Port Charles.

Laura, Mac, Felicia, Cody, Sasha, Nina, Dante, Sam, and James. This episode is for me.

When one character just blurts out their long held secret to another, I think that's usually a sign that the writers are just over it

I dread watching the actors who play Drew and Willow try to rationalize their out of character actions. I doubt either actor is up to it. Thank goodness for the fast forward button

THIS! I think people expected an over-night turnaround of material, and I always stated following May Sweeps we'd see some kind of story-movement, and what's playing right now is proof of that. And agree: seeing Sonny spiral and every turn against him has been compelling, and while I understand Maurice Benard's POV on the story, he's an actor and should be able to handle the material.

Patrick Mulcahey's work has been clear and the heart he's poured into a lot of the storylines has been wonderful to see playout. It's a crying shame TPTB chose for Elizabeth Korte to remain, and not Mulcahey.

    • I don't think they had any idea who he was this time last year. I think they were keeping their options very open. Same with totally dropping the Trina romance that was spoiled for him in the mags once FV clearly took a shine to him. Frank's priorities are bright and blazing in one color. I do think Gio and Emma seem to have worked out given that she is very dry and sarcastic and he is like a hot golden retriever, but I'd still play the field or explore quads with both with very different people - Emma with a scheming young man (of color), Gio with possibly Trina or someone else, or even a boy. Then maybe put them back together, who knows. But of course none that will happen.

    • He definitely got lost in the shuffle last year. First, they were implying that he was Drew’s son, then he was nothing more than just Violet’s bff

And then they changed him to being Dante and Brook Lynn’s son, which was clunky at first but I’m enjoying the storyline now.
    • GM is adorable, charming and fun onscreen despite months of nothing to do until recently, and has a bodacious bod. I'm not cosigning the show or this story - I haven't watched a full episode in over a month - but I think we're all taking the small victories in 2025 at this point. I'm open to testing this theory!
    • I think Jason might've posted some numbers for the syndication a while ago and the numbers for Falcon Crest was horrible. Like 1.5 rating or something, which was terrible.    ETA: it was actually Paul Raven:   New to syndication 60 min Fall Guy 67 markets 3.1/8 Falcon Crest 110 markets 1.1/5 To get into the top 40, you needed a 4.6/9 rating for reference - and Falcon Crest managed to get into a lot of markets to begin with. In the fall of 1985 Dynasty, Dallas and Knots were syndicated (show / rating / share / coverage % / markets): Dallas 3.4 10 51.7 92 Dynasty 3.4 10 48.7 47  Knots Landing 3.3 10 12.5 20  So, Knots as an example trippled Falcon Crest's rating with 20 markets - I'm sure those were major ones but it just goes to show you how much Falcon Crest bombed in syndication.
    • It's not bad but the stories move too slow. It's the same problem when Dan O'Connor was CO-HW with Van Etten, they have a million stories and they all drag on endlessly with no resolution. I'd argue the majority of the stories airing now are good but you get sick of waiting months for something to happen.
    • Thanks. I must have missed that period entirely for Lifetime.
    • Thanks. I know Marland did that type of thing sometimes but it's less likely with these characters. I don't even remember Alex ever mentioning him.
