Yes, June 27!  I mentioned it mid-thread but will edit the opening post to clarify.
This is what seems to have happened:
He recorded that goodbye video on his final taping day, and he held onto it. Then he posted it on June 26, which he expected to be his final airdate. However there was an insert/filler episode that moved his final airdate to June 27.  It seems that he inadvertently leaked his exit one day early.

That and Jophielle (Violet) mentioned in a recent interview that she "still sees Michael" which seemed to indicate that either he, or she, or both, were no longer on set.

And yeah the social media thing was a giveaway, since  Roger H started an IG page several weeks before his exit, so when Easton suddenly had an IG page ...

If anyone at GH actually expects Jonathan Jackson, or Burton, to revive ratings, they are foolhardy, as both (especially Burton) were prominent over periods of ratings decline. Jackson came into the show as part of a package deal which did nothing for the ratings.

I would like to believe these types of returns are more about the show having building blocks again, as both Jason and Lucky have ties to many characters, have kids on the show, etc.

It's hard to know what will bring in ratings. When people kept going on about how Mulcahey's material had lowered the ratings, I was surprised, because all I'd ever really heard from fan commentary over the previous year or so was how bad most of the show was.

I was just pondering that given the unlikelihood that Michael Easton will get cast on another soap, this may be his last regular role on television.  He's had a long career, spanning 22 years.  Yet, history teaches us that not many leading soap actors in their 50s wind up with significant roles in nighttime TV or film.  So, at the age of 57, this could mean retirement for him.

Luckily, it seems like he has many other interests, and I guess the bright side is that he'll no longer need to dye his hair.

If anything Jason's return...BTS manipulation or not...should be a lesson to use when they get to Lucky's return. No stalling. No detours cuz it might make FV's Friend look funny. Just tell the tale.

I agree. I think it is totally possible to get the ratings back up. Just focus on the characters viewers want to see. Or write the ones they don't better...which PM proved with his brief run. But the former now methinks, not the latter.

Yep. Ready for that change as well.

Speak it out and shame the devil.

What do you mean here? Were some people speculating on some kind of nonsense going on behind the scenes relating to Jason's Return?!

I imagine his lovely classy IG farewell was tagged to drop yesterday & no one realized that the pre-emption had pushed things off a day. Fortunately, it really didn't spoil anything. For a week at least people have seen the signs of an imminent exit, and that is how it should be, when story lets you know what to expect to happen! Am I correct that it was the solar eclipse that threw it off? Just curious.

These are the most recent things that moved airdates:
Mon. April 8 preemption for solar eclipse
Tues. April 16 insert episode #15447A
Wed. May 22 insert episode $15472A

GH doesn't tape far ahead, so I think it was likely the May 22 insert episode that caused Easton's final airdate to shift from June 26 to June 27.

    • Leslie having the nerve to show up at the Dupree House was pure insanity. Bill being revealed to be more ruthless than anyone would have thought was a good development. I have to imagine that will change Dani's view of wanting him back. The whole reveal was well done and Trisha Mann-Grant owned those scenes. That was most definitely material for an Emmy submission reel.
    • I agree, all the Guys Tux were nice. I like how they differ from each other and all stylish in a way. Awe, same. Can not believe I actually have enjoying a current daytime soap. Rewatching these episodes over the weekend as a jump back into Ryan's Hope and Santa Barbara. Agreed! Exciting times.

And it was pretty dope we didn't know that tidbit before the reveal.
    • yes I thought of the Renee party... But this is different because I'm talking specifically about the revealer convincing someone else to throw the party.  And the someone else complies, having no idea what the revealer plans. I'm wondering if Michele Val Jean did a first with BTG in 2025. But the BTG thread is already so busy -- that I thought it important to *NOT* clog it up with discussing this, so I brought the question here instead. That way, if other reveals come up in conversation, it's not a problem on this "general retro soap" thread.
    • Well, good that they showed Vanessa though I wish she was there.   Lol. And here comes Naomi. AND an explanation from Jacob.

She is diabolical! Remember in this scene she offered Martin a brownie which seemed so random? In this episode its revealed that when he was a kid, Ted used to bring him to a restaurant where the waitress would give him brownies....that waitress was Leslie. She was playing games and trying to jog his childhood memory
    • Yay!!!!!! And made it ON TIME, TOO!!!   And this is giving DAYS reveals circa late 90s already.
    • Bish what? I was not expecting that, I was for sure expecting him to go after Nicole (He still can). Looks like Leslie put her out! I love these new developments, Eva Dorian Lording her way into Fairmont Crest. My good sis better trap that doctor.
    • It should be in its synopsis on the DVR description of the show.
    • Well, in a way DAYS "Renee Dumonde DiMera Threw a Party & Invited Everyone & Then Told the Whole Town Off" if you see what I mean. She definitely pretended that she was throwing this shindig for a pleasant reason while she KNEW her real intent wasn't pleasant AT ALL. And, everyone in Salem was targeted by her in this way.  I mean it was supposedly a celebration of her engagement. But, that is not what happened! I think it checks off all your boxes. And, before today I would definitely have called it "singular". There was nothing like it. Now, there's something not only similar but possibly .... more far-reaching? I was just struck by a thought. When MVJ was tasked to write a catfight, she wrote the best catfight that has ever existed. I'm not sure but what if she's done it again?!!
