Okay... off to Guides. Each of the girls had to bring a treat from a WAGGGS country (World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts), and we've had Singapore Spring Rolls, Greek Hummus and Pita, American Apple Pie, and Irish Chocolate. The Diva - not to be outdone - is bringing French Escargot - pan fried in two different toppings. I am rasing Ms. Thing!

Anyway, I can't wait to dish today's eppi in the BR tonight. See you then.

Aw man. I'm working tomorrow, so if we do breakroom, I might miss it ('cause I'll probably be watching American Idol from 8-9).

Found this on TWoP: Tracy does know why Luke sticks around, but she wants to hear Luke say it. Luke is clueless about women. That scenario makes more sense than how I originally interpreted the scene.

hooked, where have you been? SD is asking about you!!! I told my Mom about Jane's hair, and she goes, "Why does she keep cutting it?" And then she goes, "Have you and Carrie discussed this yet?"

I think it was Tracy, by the way, who gave the tip to Alexis about the HS, thus Luke's "again" in that one line. Must have happened offscreen. Would have liked to see it, though. NLG and JE in a scene one-on-one would be fabulous!

Addie, I am also sorry to hear you're having a hard time. Anything we can do to help?

Hey guys. I just got home from a hugely busy and crazy day and haven't gotten to watch the show yet. I just came back from a Yom Hashoah service which my son's group led--it is a holocaust memorial service. There was a speaker who was a survivor and retold his story. I am in such a deep state of wow right now that I can't even process all that I heard.

I have to run out with my MIL and kids as she promised to take them for ice cream at 9pm when the yahve state testing tomorrow at school. She is so freaking annoyng.

I will try to get on later, if anyone is still hope. I am so missing my dishing about today!!

No... I don't think this is it, at all.

Perhaps Luke is clueless at times, but he's not an idiot. He saw right through Tracy and nailed it - she honestly doesn't get it. She thinks it's still a game with him and that sure, he might love her but he really isn't IN love with her. That's what he was trying to get across. That's what she doesn't know how to hear. She's not setting him up to verbally confirm what she already knows - she DOESN'T know.

We know that Luke and Tracy are on tomorrow, and other stories are continuing tomorrow.... I hope they don't drop this scene. I want to see it's conclusion. To day we were left on the edge or our seats... I WANT MORE!!!

EDIT

New poll at SOC:

Which actor/actress has been most overlooked for the Emmy's?

JE is about to take the lead. Come on and help her.

My new best friend at SD!! I am posting her take on the Luke/Tracy stuff today. I have totally turned her on to Lunacy! Sometimes it is nice to see someone outside our TQ bubble's take on things! I think she expresses it very well.

Lacy had a really great moment that many couple fans would love to have. I know I would love to see something like that for lusam some day, but that seems so far off and impossible at the moment. Seriously though, I thought it was one of the better and most genuine couple moments the show has had in a while.

I think this moment was more to solidify the relationship because he will leave again, but I think the more important thing is that he is telling her why he always comes back. He gave her something real today and I think that is what Tracy is looking for. She isn't looking for perfection, or the guy that is always going to get it right. She sees in Luke someone who understands her and takes all her baggage on, as much as she takes on all of his. What Tracy is looking for is someone she can be real with and has her back. Whatever else you can say about the Spencer men, and they do have their flaws, once you are in their heart, in whatever capacity, they are there for you. in the clutch. Lucky showed that today with Liz (and it is something, if he and Sam continue, she will begin to understand about him).

In short, after my long-winded attempt, today was giving Lacy reinforcement in the foundation of the relationship, so it can be maintained through yet another round of earthquakes.

Some GH Emmy trivia from GoldDerby that applies to GH:

-Nicole Forester achieves two feats: an Emmy nomination as Cassie that Laura Wright couldn't land in 8 years on the show. Forester also got it on her very first pre-nomination; Wright had three straight pre-nominations

-The last time General Hospital had one acting nomination was way back in 1994 when Sharon Wyatt was GH's only nom

-Rick Hearst is the only acting winner from last year not nominated again this year. Genie Francis was not eligible to be pre-nominated at all.

GH's best show tapes are February 1st and 2nd; Tracy is in the second episode, but not the first

Thanks for the clips, Nex! Fey has been watching and told me about yesterday's show (we have a sitch with the cable/vcr that precludes taping the show.) We are going to start having her mom tape the Soapnet marathons on Sunday, but I appreciate the clips in the interim. Can't wait to see them.

Morning all...

Nex, thanks for the clips.

MF, nice to see you out and about. Glad you are getting your LuNacy goodness.

Addie, hope today is better. That trivia was interesting.

Hooked, keep making friends!

And on the boards this morning...

From Lynda Hirsch:

GENERAL HOSPITAL: After spotting Ian, Maxie sends a text message to Spinelli just before Ian grabs her. Jason and Spinelli arrive on the scene as Ian holds a scalpel to Maxie's throat, threatening to kill her. Ian admits to shooting Michael, but won't tell Jason who he was working for. Ian turns up dead. Alexis questions Jerry about his association with Ian. Robin, Patrick and Tracy walk in on Luke and Anna's drinking contest and find Anna hanging upside down by a rope. Robin is speechless when Anna asks Patrick if he is going to marry her daughter. Jax sees a disaster in the making when Carly decides to care for Michael at home. Carly explains Michael's condition to Morgan and is later devastated when she finds Morgan pleading with his brother to wake up. Carly breaks down in Jason's arms after he forces her to face the truth about Michael. While sitting by Michael's beside, Jason reaffirms his vow to stay out of Jake's life. Jason knows things will never be the same between him and Sonny in the wake of Michael's shooting. On the day of his surgery, Nikolas says goodbye to Emily.

SNEAK PEEK: Luke is arrested.

From soaps.com

Anthony is set free and Sonny blames Diane.

The first person AZ goes to see? Luke.

From Wubs....

I like Tracy's outfit. I really like she and LUKE..sniff. Man, it really makes me not want Laura back! How weird...I guess it's just the growing and evolution of Luke for me. If Laura had been on the show the entire time, it would be different but she hasn't been. awwwwww. Luke said I love you! wweeee!

Two Tracy related threads on SOC and neither one of them are too good. Go forth and defend out girl, folks! These EWCBO fans get on my last nerve. Yup, of course since Luke told our girl he loves her yesterday, the EWCBO fans are coming out of the woodwork again wth "if she woke up tomorrow....." cr@p.

NEWSFLASH Tracy, no one wants your husband....

I can only have pity for Tracy Quartermaine wannabe Luke's love

Catch you all later. Am litterally running out the door to school. Fingers are crossed for some sexy LuNacy today.

    • I see her moral dilemma, too, and I don't think Lulu was out of line. I just felt it was overboard for her to break down in tears over her dilemma.
    • I also think the fact Lulu chose abortion and Brook Lynn chose to give a baby up for adoption instead when they were in similar situations adds another layer to this.  The writing doesn't really state this, but I can see Lulu slightly spiraling about thinking she could have an adult child out there if she made a different choice.  Both woman made the right choices for themselves at the time, but I can see both making parallels to their decisions.
    • SO good!  I agree. Classic soap opera and it was a cliffhanger I've been craving for weeks now.  First time in a while that I can't wait for tomorrow's episode!
    • -- I was OK with the music. I think the first 5 minutes of the first episode spoiled us -- we really thought we were going to get "real music" a lot more often. Instead, we got some budget money for the opening scene, and that was it. -- I'd like music to be used more often, but I'll put that on production and not on the musicc supervisor. I think they've intentionally dialed down the music on this show. -- Editing? I still have major problems with it. This episode was SO good, but almost every fade to commercial was off or bad. I just don't get it. That, too, is intentional, but I have no idea what they're going for. It isn't working.
    • I’m up to Jan. 8, 1996 and into a new year! This NYE masquerade ball has been outstanding soap opera! The jig is up with Marian. Brent stages a dummy in a wig at his apartment, making Cleary think Marian is alone at home all night, but Brent is really dressed up at the ball and stalking Lucy and AM. Meanwhile, Frank is at the docks and finds a wrapped floating body (Nadine) and calls it in.  At the same time, unlucky for Brent, Susan just woke up from her coma and remembers Marian attacking her and tells Nick everything! Nick immediately calls Frank to tell him the news. Back at the party, Brent calls AM, pretending to be Marian, and lures him to her apartment just as Frank and Clearly storm in and they all find the dummy in a wig. Brent, now dressed as Zoro like AM was at the party, grabs Lucy, kisses her, she realizes it isn’t AM, and Brent attacks and drugs her unconscious!  I can’t wait to see how this turns out… except for… In this moment, in the middle of the ball, a new actor takes over for Brent. So the episode starts with Brent attacking Lucy, but you have the voiceover man say “Today, the role of Brent Lawrence will be played by…” - taking you out of the scene, wondering what in the world happened. I know what happened, but I’m sure if I were watching live in the 90s without internet, I would be gasping. I had no idea the switchover happened mid-ball where you have the entire cast dressed up, working long hours. I have to imagine the stress of it all made Frank Beaty have his mental break, but I wonder how the rest of the cast/crew dealt with it given it happened right in the middle of this ball that everyone was at for multiple episodes. Did they have to delay the filming schedule to find a new actor? The actor must have had zero time to prep for the role, although I’m assuming we won’t see Marian anymore now that she’s been known to be a fake. I want to know all the juicy BTS details haha. But now, Rick caught wind that the police are trying to find Marian at the party and he starts to put the pieces together, given that he’s the only one that knows Marian is really a man. He walks outside and tells AM, Buzz, Frank and the police that Marian is a man and chaos ensues. Also, Nick finally proposes to Susan in the hospital in a very sweet scene. I didn’t enjoy Susan or this pairing in the beginning, but they’ve really grown on me and I really like how tough Susan is. She was the only one who really caught onto Marian and stood up to her. Meanwhile, Amanda locks Blake in a bathroom and ends up pulling Roger into a kiss after midnight, which Blake sees after she finally escapes. The girls fight, slap each other, throw food and pies… what a fun time haha. Reva the diva is in full force and her sweet milkmaid Goshen personality went out the door for good. She makes Alan go to the ball with her, dressed in a sexy red dress, and makes quite a scene. She kisses Josh, they fight in front of the whole party, she breaks down, they scream at each other, poor Annie runs off crying and Reva leaves the party and tries to seduce Alan to make herself feel better. Reva’s performance in front of everyone was pure Reva and honestly the Reva I prefer.  I was so tired of Amish Reva for 7 months, so this is a breath of fresh air. I don’t think it all came together perfectly, and I don’t think Reva nor Josh have made good decisions, but at least the story is now moving forward and I have the old Reva back, for better or worse haha. I’m a little disappointed in Bridget. She’s very quick to crush on Hart again and she’s almost pining after him at this ball. Vanessa of course isn’t that happy with what she’s seeing. Matt tries to reassure her. Speaking of, Matt is looking really good at this ball - the mustache and hat really works for him (sorry, PJ haha).  Another point about Bridget that bothers me, which is the writers’ fault, but she’s been totally dropped from the Lucy/Brent storyline. They were basically best friends and she was involved in the beginning, but they completely replaced her friend role with Susan/Nick, which I get because she has HIV/AIDs and Bridget may not have worked as well when the story continued along that path.  But still, I wish we could see Bridget checking in on her or be worried for her (same with David). Finally, a little story is brewing with Griffin and Gilly’s mom, Vivian. She just confronted him and asks if he’s planning to do to her daughter what he did to her long ago.  Interesting…
    • AMC 2.0 was fantastic; it was strong and it was bold and pushed some boundaries with how it told the Cassandra storyline. When Y&R did it soon after, you could tell how watered down it was on Y&R.
    • I am actually surprised so many people think Lulu is way out of line.  I think it's more nuanced. Yes, it was BLQ choice to give the baby up for adoption and she shouldn't be shamed for that.  At the same time I do think it does directly affect Lulu's family because it is Rocco's brother and she's still in love with Dante.  So I can sort of see her moral dilemma there.
    • I think AMC 2.0 was pretty strong throughout, frankly. I still consider it the best soap of the 2010s. I was not against Dixie and literally anyone but Tad, lol. Dr. Anders was interesting but he also came off almost cartoonishly remote/on the spectrum at times re: his grief over his wife or whatever. It didn't get much chance to get off the ground, and they clearly planned to break the emergency glass and bring back MEK/Tad per the final episode.
    • I believe so, yes. But I think that was more a case of hiring someone who was then a popular soap name (much like bringing over Bernard Grant from GL a few years later). To my limited knowledge amnesiac Tom Edwards was a far cry from Bill Matthews, and he didn't last long.
