It's an ET special so no PGP logo. The credits music was generic production music

I have to say I'm glad Sheryl Underwood managed to swallow hard and "pass the torch" to BTG. After all, Martha Byrne, Elizabeth Hubbard, and some other ATWT cast had to make nice with their replacements on The Talk during those "reunions."

Finally! Got to watch today's preview.

I loved all the easter eggs and touches on black history...especially the lantern on the family crest.

So the vibe I got from TT is that at some point they will dive into Anita's past. And I'm looking forward to it. And fingers crossed a female rival emerges from it. I will take any of the ladies we have already discussed for her. Though Victoria Rowell will make me fall right on out.

Since I didn't run over every name when the character sketches started to drop in this thread, it's been fascinating trying to connect the dots. So I fell out when it came out that Hayley is Dani's daughter's BFF. THAT's messy. lol. And soapy.

And I am not sure of all the third generation Duprees and know very little about them so I will be looking forward to seeing them flesh out on screen. And I do remember the character sketches on the mother/daughter social climbers/schemers, but it finally clicked that's who we have been seeing in the promos the whole time. lol. When I think Nemesis, I just think the other girl was her henchman/henchwoman...not related. lol. Well-played.

In one week...

The special was lovely though I was amused to see them pointedly avoiding any mention of MVJ's work at General Hospital. Just running a few clips from the 90s could've gone a long way with this audience. But of course ABC would probably not clear that.

Also lovely is this:

Loved the first episode of the ET specials. I have to pinch myself seeing all of the actors and sets and the love and care from everybody bringing this show together, its still insane this is really happening.

They gave us so many great details and nuggets. The diner being named after MVJ’s mother, CBS head George Cheeks father being canonized as Vernon’s, the black history being sprinkled throughout every fabric of the show.

Jon Lindstrom really hit the nail on the head with his comments on diversity. Major TV networks have talked a big game for decades but most times its been pure lip service or temporary. With this show we have real representation in front of and behind the scenes as well as a serious investment from the companies invested and its such a joy to witness.

Jon's comments were wonderful, as were Steven Williford's. I can't remember if he was at GH in the Guza II (and onward?) years as well as Y&R but I think so.

The preview today was mighty entertaining (and mighty touching regarding the "small things", like the name of the diner and the café it's based upon, the symbolism of the crest, the painting of Vernon's father, etc.)  I still wish they'd premiered this thing as a half hour instead of an hour, and I wish it wasn't boxed into the "zillionaire genre", but it looks like a polished product for sure.

But what would've been the significance of this being a half hour as opposed to an hour? The good thing is that I see this show as being "not one way or the other" if that makes sense. Rich people, slightly rich people, poor people, and sleazy criminal types all navigating in the same orbit. Sounds intriguing to me. Not your mother/grandmother soap.

    • All I can think of is if a lot of big names were leaving around that time she wanted him back as a stopgap, although I have never seen any real evidence that he was popular with GH viewers.
    • I loved watching Shanice hand Leslie her ass and finally shutting her up. It was so good. I also love Martin & Smitty's family.  Anita has to have some sort of plan giving Leslie the tickets to mail for Winterfest. She has to be setting her up for a fall. It's pretty obvious to me Vernon is not cheating with Sharon. I think Sharon is helping him with his terrible singing voice for Winterfest. I still believe Bill & Dani are endgame but I love Dani & Andre too. I am definitely enjoying this story. And making Hayley a black widow is a nice twist.
    • Sorry for the spam. Wasn't sure where to put this, it's from Tony Geary's husband's IG. Tony watching Genie and Maurice on Mo's show.
    • This show is really trundling along BTW. When is someone going to show up to slit Beastmaster's throat or crack the whip on metrosexual Sidwell? (BTW, openly presenting this cheery bon vivant as casually bisexual would at least be something vaguely diverting.) At least kill Brennan by year's end. I'm bored.
    • She told Vanessa to "DOUBLE her offer" on the Jarvis house.  The Jarvis family accepted the doubled price.  Assuming the house has an appraised value of $2,000,000, she's theoretically paid the Jarvis family $4,000,000 for the house.  The bank would loan Leslie 80% of the appraised value ($1,600,000), and Leslie had to pay the balance with cash at closing --- $2,200,000.  She only had ONE million.  Where the hell did she get the rest?!  And now she's got contractors working on the house all day & half the night.  Who's paying THEM?  I keep thinking all this will crash around her.  Either that or the writers have absolutely no idea the limits of a million dollars.  Sounds like a "lot of money", but it obviously ain't when we look at Leslie's spending since she got that million dollar check in August.

    • Vernon is an idiot. Why would he have Sharon in the same hotel that Leslie is staying at?
    • Yes, that out of the blue return was odd. Maybe GG found a forgotten clause in the contract he signed when he was wooed to ABC and they were forced to take him back! Like George Reinholt he talked about the contract that promised him primetime roles. But it was loaded in the networks favor. I think it was Gloria Loring that re-signed at Days on the promise of primetime opportunities, but that was all it was- she was put up for guest spots and TV movies but not necessarily guaranteed that she get the role.
    • I still am baffled by why Monty brought back stunt hire Gerald Gordon in the early '80s out of nowhere for like a year. I haven't found anyone who can come up with a thing he did in that second stint of note.
    • It's interesting to watch this having watched The Doctors. I'm not sure I'm seeing that much of a difference in the characters Gerald Gordon and Anna Stuart played on The Doctors and what they're playing here.
