Yes, and again, years ago, ABC aired a primetime supernatural thriller/soap that went by the exact same name. Those characters also resided in a gated community. The name of the show didn't change, although I always thought the creators wanted the audience to think "The Gates of Hell" given that it was kind of creepy.

Everybody’s gonna try to get in on this. I’m interested in who is going to be doing casting duties.

In the old days of P&G soaps, it was common to see certain actors circulate their soaps (EON, ATWT, AW, GL, etc). Back then, it was not uncommon to even see an actor appear in a commercial for one of their products before later appearing in one of their daytime soaps. It’s been nearly 15 years since P&G has produced a daytime soap so I think we can assume that things will be slightly different this time around, and P&G appears to be assuming the role of partner, rather than primary production company as they were in the past. 
Still, the list of actors who once performed in P&G soaps is pretty impressive- Tonya Pinkins, a pre-Y&R Victoria Rowell, Amelia Marshall, Petronia Paley, Count Stovall and Tamara Tunie, to name a few.

Oh, I would not hate this, especially if Elizabeth Korte & Patrick Mulcahey have no interest in returning Zeke back to the canvas ⏤ which would be a crying shame, because he is one of the characters created by Dan O'Connor & Chris Van Etten that the audience as a whole seemed to really enjoy.

I honestly would love a mixture of veteran east coast soap actors, as well as newcomers. A mix of both worlds. I really want CBS Studios, NAACP and P&G Studios to focus on east coast talent. I genuinely do. Go into community theaters, colleges and acting schools, and find some raw talent with some real promising talents. No offense to west coast soaps, but the talent is different and it shows in final products. Will it be like the hey days of casting? No. But it would be a promising sign for the future of The Gates.

They would be... but, selfishly, I'd rather they go to Réal Anderws first.

Oh of course, you absolutely need both! 

Fresh faces and experienced veterans and if this is to be a 60 minute serial as has been suggested, there should be sufficient room for both. That first episode, you need strong talent to do the heavy lifting.

I agree with this. No offense to the West but I have seen how B’way works up close and personal, as I once interned for a B’way producer and that discipline involved— actors, even the relatively young and newbies always show up prepared.

Yes. Heavy talent should introduce the soap. At least, that's our viewpoint. It would make sense. Have two promotional campaigns: one with the vets, one with the newbies, and sell it from there.

Yes. This is why east coast talent showed up. They had the talent. West coast, especially by the '90s, was models trying to act since they were maxing out their age groups.

He'd be a great casting choice.

Shemar Moore's CBS show, SWAT, is airing its final season...I doubt he'd want a full time daytime return, but given it's CBS, perhaps he'd agree to help launch the show with a return of Malcolm Winters on Y&R, taking the character to The Gates for a 3 month arc.

Nah, if he were to join TG for a three-month arc, I'd want it to be as a new character.  Perhaps, as a successful businessman with a cool-sounding name like (sorry, Eddie Murphy) "Dexter St. Jacques," lol.

It is my fondest wish that the NYC actor/soap pipeline resumes in whatever altered way possible. It is a cultural heritage as well as an economic boon. I have bored so many young actors back East with this lol.

I'd love to know where they intend TG's setting to be, because that could help in determining an actual title for the series as well.

Interesting point about the fact that RH was a 30 minute serial.
In this day and age, I don’t see a network soap being able to center one family, unless they are going to make that world really cloistered, to the point of being nearly claustrophobic. A radio soap, sure- a script to screen with a beginning, middle and end, yes, but a continuing drama, somehow I don’t see viewers putting up with that. Today’s viewers definitely expect more.
