That new promo was excellent! I love how they've kept dropping stuff at a steady pace since the first promo. They're doing a good job of pacing themselves, building awareness and building excitement. Whatever happens in February, I'm completely confident in their ability to promote this show. It'll be up to the viewers to show up but it's clear they know what they're doing and are invested in promoting the show.

One thing I found interesting about the trailer were the multiple examples of location shooting using the Assembly facades. I hope that is a regular thing. Doesn't need to happen every episode but it does open the series up and modernize it which will be important to draw in a new audience. I love the fact that they were actually able to play a car crash which typically that is almost impossible for a soap to pull off. Those little touches add so much to these shows.

The trailer was "exclusive" to Essence magazine. Usually, when an outlet gets exclusivity, that's how it is done. The only way for an unlisted video to get shared is when someone with knowledge of its existence shares the link with others publicly.

CBS might make the link available to others in the future, but it's likely to be re-uploaded as we get closer to the premiere instead since the upload date would appear older in terms of sorting by date as it pertains to the aforementioned algorithm.

From the ESSENCE magazine's website: The text reads:

History is being made in modern television with the upcoming premiere of Beyond The Gates, the first-ever, one-hour Black daytime drama to air on television. CBS has officially released the highly anticipated trailer for the series, giving audiences a glimpse into the groundbreaking show that promises to reshape the daytime drama landscape.

Set to debut on Monday, February 24, 2025, Beyond The Gates will air weekdays at 2:00pm ET on CBS and will also be available for streaming on Paramount+. This historic series marks a significant milestone—it’s been over two decades since a new daytime soap hit the airwaves, so this show is impacting the industry in more ways than one.

And, the visual on the mag's website:

I think this is my favorite still photo of the core four!

Blex media, another black-owned media property, has also posted the extended trailer on their platforms.

Love that CBS is prioritizing black-owned businesses with the rollout of promotion for the show. Again, this show needs to succeed with the black female demographic, it’s obvious that’s the demographic CBS is prioritizing given who they’ve given the promotional exclusives to.

That's when you know it's about to get real ghetto up in here, lol!

Well, it DOES seem like an appropriate time to remind everyone:

(Damn, I wish Jonelle Allen and Vivica A. Fox were part of the BTG cast.  I seriously wish the catfight had lasted the entire episode with no other storylines featured.  That would have been BOSS.)

Jonelle and Vivica will show up very soon on BTG.  If I keep speaking it into the universe, it will happen.

(Alas, Richard Roundtree also joining the show will not.

And, I'm going to note: nothing about this felt "ghetto" or "ratchet". Camp? Yes. But it felt like soap. The "swoop" sound of the shoes flying off Jonelle Allen's feet will always be hilarious to me, and the way she pulled up the train of her dress, haha.

    • I feel like the show has been like this for the past 15 or more years, IMO. Things happen but there are never or RARELY any long-term impacts. Instead, everything (characters, history) is just reset to what it was before. In a couple of months, Hope will be working at Forrester again. No one will ever mention the takeover. Brooke and Ridge will be back together for the millionth time, etc etc.  It's hard to get invested in a story when you know this is how the show works.
    • Martin and Smitty's kids not being there seemed like a glaring omission. Also, Naomi and Jacob weren't there as well. I know some of this is probably budget, but it seems like there could be a way to still have them all there.
    • Thanks so much for finding this & posting it. This makes me so angry!!!
    • Dani had a flashback of Dani getting ready for an event with Bill. The gown she wore in the flashback was light green and elegant and gorgeous. The light green flashback dress was quite different than the red/orange/lilac swirling print beaded gown that Dani is wearing to Nicole's anniversary party.   But there was clearly the show's intention to have the Dupree women (except for Nicole) wearing shades of red.   I love Anita but the red gown that she's wearing to the anniversary party -- not flattering.
    • I think you can find them here https://www.tumblr.com/tagged/OLTL What's there is recaps from SOD at the times it shows which is usually from way back up till 2003. Most if not all of this is due to Matt Smith who you may recall from his AW playlists on YoutTube.
    • Party wardrobe color theme: Good Queen Nicole is in a solid gold gown. The other Dupree women (plus Smitty) are wearing shades of red/pink (with purple accents) -- Anita, Dani, Chelsea, Kat, in dresses. -- Smitty in white shirt and maroon jacket. (did not see Naomi?) "The help" Eva and Mona are in black. Antagonist queen Leslie/Dana in a black/gold gown. The men (except for Smitty) are wearing black. Ted - white shirt, black tie, black jacket. (Ted's jacket was shiny with back polka dots on black background) Vernon - black turtleneck, white dress shirt over it, black jacket (no tie). Andre - black T-shirt, gold chain, black jacket. Martin - black shirt, black tie, black jacket. Dr. Carlton Fitzgerald - white shirt, black tie, black jacket. (did not see Jacob?) I didn't see Naomi and Jacob at the party, but perhaps they arrive later? The evening is not over yet.
