I mean, some random, no-name blogger isn't the best of sources. A lot of people are taking what Soaps in Depth posted as them confirming his casting, when it didn't do that.

I noticed the tweet has since been deleted but not before a few outlets and some of Real’s fans and former costars could spread the news. 🤦🏾‍♂️ If people are going to play the scooper game they’ve gotta do a bit more fact checking before outright stating things. Hopefully since writers were clearly given a green light to share their involvement with the show Real doesn’t find himself in any NDA trouble. He can be an odd duck but I like the idea of his casting.

His IG itself proves he didn't violate the NDA, at least, it should. It's going to depend on what the NDA itself states is off-limits for discussing. This is the article that they keep referencing to from October 15.  I am assuming this is the paragraph people are taking as confirmation he's joining the soap:

❝ The new CBS soap Beyond the Gates is currently in pre-production and has announced some casting already. Could Andrews be playing a major role on the upcoming daytime drama centered around a powerful African-American family living in a gated community? ❞

Then, Celebrating the Soaps reported the Soaps in Depth article as them confirming he's joined the cast, and reported that he told them (Soaps in Depth) that he had joined the cast, which is not what's reported in the article linked above.

I don't think it would be wise to leave the heavy promotion so late. At best it would have a couple of weeks after the election and I don't think that would be enough to get all the attention and interest it would need. They really need to start to ramp up the promotion soon. It's nice to hear casting news but unless there are any A listers waiting in the wings, casting news is largely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

TBH CBS hasn't done themselves any favours by their scheduling. Ideally BTG should have premiered in September because as you said any major news or attention is going to be lost most likely.

I think doing a midseason launch gives them more space to focus on this. There are less shows premiering than there are in the fall, plus that would've made the pre-production incredibly rushed.

Eww, so weird someone else took over my old website name and ran with it. That's not me, for the record; that site looks a glitchy mess anyhow.

Oh, that's not cute. At all.

It makes me wonder if perhaps, instead of January, they are looking to premiere in February or March. Didn’t B&B premiere in March? It seems to have worked for them. Of course, February has cultural significance.

I think January is likely still the target but they likely want to wait to see how production goes at first, and if there are/aren't kinks to work out.

The Talk is ending in December regardless, so CBS will need to figure out what they’re filling that time with if BTG isn’t ready. Will they air reruns ofThe Talk only until then for an extended time?

CBS might fill The Talk's hour with political news until BTG begins.
Who knows wtf will be happening politically in January.

Y&R also premiered in March. I like your idea of February. The problem with January is not so much the planned preemption for the inauguration, but the possibility of lots of press conferences from the new President. While many people will be streaming BTG instead of watching the network broadcast, CBS does not upload a show when there's a national preemption and that's going to create confusion when there's missing days on the app.

I don't want to see BTG preempted by the usual live soccer match premptions in the Mountain, Pacific (also Alaska and Hawaii) timezones .... preemptions that usually happen a few episodes per month during Feb/March/April every year.
(Four dates in February,  two dates in March,
plus four dates in late April or early May.)
CBS already does this to B&B and Y&R every year, and also "The Talk" was affected.  CBS doesn't think the western timezone viewers matter, "oh those viewers can just watch the show online", but still, it matters when you're premiering a new soap.

Those "partial preemptions only in some timezones" are weird.
I'd rather that CBS completely preempt the soaps in all timezones on the soccer match dates.  That way viewers who watch soaps on broadcast TV don't miss the episodes.

I hope they delay the debut of BTG until after the February soccer dates.  If they start BTG in January, then I hope the show is completely preempted in all timezones on the February soccer dates.

I hate to think that people could get annoyed or break the rhythm of the new show and give up. Ugh.

Not going to lie, that sounds like a them issue, not an issue for Behind the Gates.

Which ordinarily I think would be okay but given the election fervour I don't think it was a smart decision to delay the premier deep into the tv season.

No I get pre production would be rushed though what I'm saying is they should have made the decision to end the talk in the 23-24 season and have BTG premier September.  Basically their thinking is a little out of date and long term planning needed to be better.
