I've watched OLTL on and off since around 1979. My last "break" from it came during the insanity of the Mitch Laurence/Victor Lord resurrections. That turned me off, literally. I returned to it to see Jerry ver Dorn come on board and found that I was enjoying a good part of the show. Granted, sometimes things seem to drag on and there are still some characters and stories I don't like or don't care about but there are others that I'm enjoying. It's definitely better now than when I left that Laurence/Lord nonsense.

My alltime favorite OLTL character was probably Clint Ritchie's Clint. I loved Clint & Viki during their heyday. I think Jerry is doing a great job, though. Also loved David & Jenny, Gabrielle.

It goes without saying that OLTL is my favorite soap of all time.

For brief periods, I have watched and enjoyed ATWT, Y&R, GH, and DAYS, but I have NEVER liked any soap opera to the extent that I love OLTL ... I have been a hardcore fan since 1988.

They have the best cast in daytime, bar none.

My all time favorites are Joey (Nathan Fillion especially, but Don Jeffocat was alright), Cassie, Gabrielle, Tina (all three, but especially Andrea Evans and Karen Witter), Max, Cord, Marty, Todd, Dorian, Evangeline, Nora, Nash, Jessica, and especially Blair Cramer and Victoria Lord Davidson!!!

My favorite actresses of all time on this show are Kassie Depaiva and Erika Slezak.

I am outraged that Kevin and Kelly have been backburnered, though!

Even though OLTL should have more nominations, I will suffer through tomorrow night's Emmys to cheer on REG and the writing team (I was a big fan of the writing LAST YEAR). As soon as those two awards are done, I'll be tuning out before GH wins yet another undeserved trophy.

Allow me to join in on all the One Life love!

In the past year or so, we've had so much great drama including:

*The Daniel Colson Saga

*The Killing Club Murders

*Margaret's reign of terror

*Jessica's DID

*David and Paige's shocking secret

*Great couples like Rex/Adrianna, Tess/Nash, Kevin/Kelly, Todd/Blair, David/Dorian

    • To clarify, we could argue about the necessity to have John Black speak while in hospital, but the body created an opportunity for people to touch him, and move around him.  Even though I never totally suspended my disbelief, I appreciated their creative choice to form a visual representation of loss.  Certainly there were other ways to tell this story, but it will stay with me because those production choices enabled these performances. However, with disdain, I note that Days has found an odd middle ground between a flashback and a montage.  I define a flashback as least a couple of rounds of dialogue, if not a whole scene.  And a montage would be a visual snippet without much dialogue.  But, these were often just a single line, or an entrance.  It felt like a bit of a tease, and made me wish that Peacock had curated a playlist of John Black's Greatest Hits, like they do for some Bravo shows or SNL characters.  OT - but they have yet to maximize that platform.
    • It's tough for me because I feel like this has always been Lulu. She used to be even worse, slut-shaming, verbally abusing other women, and always being written as being in the right. They should let Brook Lynn get dirtier, but I think the material of Lulu digging and being self-righteous, making everything worse even while not intending to do so, but also not being as in the wrong as Dante thinks she is, all makes sense for her. But I don't have as much experience with Lulu as a lot of fans as I just could never stomach her beyond the time she was a mute kid, so I don't have much right to speak.
    • Thanks @JAS0N47 for all the ratings!   All My Children hits Number 1 in the ratings for the first time in its history during the week of 8/20/73-8/20/73!
    • I think the writing is slanted against Lulu.  I don't think there is an issue with the character in general.  I just think Lulu comes doesn't get many layers or nuance in her writing.  Lulu becomes obnoxious and a bully to Brook Lynn and both characters SHOULD have flaws.
    • Totally here for Anita dumping Sharon in the past for first Dante Green, and then Vernon...

    • Amanda Setton and Rena Sofer was once again really good in today's episode.  As a Lucky/Liz fan, I didn't like their scenes either.  And they are nowhere near a proposal because they haven't been given a real story.
    • I don't think Lulu is written that badly.  Lucky they do seem to have no real interest in. I wonder if this is another story they have decided to wrap up abruptly as it makes zero sense to have what would have clearly been serious conflict between Liz and Lucky just get shrugged off by her. Maybe the intense viewer negativity toward Kristina got through to them.
