Never heard of this rule.  I'm sure they would have rescinded if true.  Chrishell Stause, Thaao Penghlis, Kate Mansi were all nominated after previously being on contract.  Wayne Brady received a nomination and all but two of his appearances that year were credited as contract.

It isn't a rule. Per the requirements (which were modified a time ago): actors who "are playing characters they either played before, or are newly cast" are able to submit in the category.

Thank you for clearing that up. That’s why I asked.

How could Kevin Spirtas be nominated for Guest Actor? I was told an actor couldn’t submit in the Guest category if they had previously played the role on contract.

He didn't win anyways. He thought he was going to. Glad he didn't. His story was horrific!

Poor Days lol

Hopefully next year will be good for them, especially with Dan and Ari's performances.

The nomination period represents a transitional time for DAYS with lots of characters exiting and few memorable episodes.

However, if the Daytime community was thinking strategically, they would want to bring some attention to the streaming services, considering that's where many of them might wind up; if they're lucky.

My hope is that Neighbours qualifies for 2024. I know submissions are due this month for 2024, so...

now, that would be interesting!  Didn't they have a streaming series category a few years ago?  I would prefer if network and streaming were treated equally.

If Google is correct, Eden McCoy is the first Daytime Emmy winner in the acting categories that was born in the 2000s.

Maybe Shemar will win for his 5 second speech in front of Neil's portrait then...

Considering The Bay was including in Outstanding Daytime Series I would wager Neighbours would qualify, as well?

Snarkily, it would certainly be more worthy.  But, I'd bet that ATAS will create a rule to exclude foreign productions in order to stay in the good graces of the networks.
