Webmaster Errol Posted December 20, 2022 Webmaster Share Posted December 20, 2022 Failing to ever crack Netflix’s coveted Top 10 list since its premiere in early November, the streaming service has decided not to pursue a second season of “Blockbuster,” a scripted take on the working life of employees operating the last Blockbuster Video in America. The series starred Randall Park (“Fresh Off the Boat”) and Melissa Fumero (“One Life to Live,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”). According to a logline for the series, “Timmy Yoon (Park) is an analog dreamer living in a 5G world. And after learning he is operating the last Blockbuster Video in America, Timmy and his staff, including his long-time crush, Eliza (Fumero), fight to stay relevant. The only way to succeed is to remind their community that they provide something big corporations can’t: human connection.” “Blockbuster” landing on Netflix came with a bit of irony as the streamer played a vital role in the demise of the once iconic brand when it built its customer base by mailing DVDs directly to members, cutting out the need for visiting the local video store. Produced by Universal Television, the 10-episode series was co-created by Vanessa Ramos who also served as executive producer and showrunner. Olga Merediz, Tyler Alvarez, Madeleine Arthur, JB Smoove and Kamaia Fairburn also star. Check out the official trailer below.
