I don't think doing the thing with the Hayeses is a bad idea at all. It's a neat promotional opportunity, and the fact is there's a lot of older fans who are still slow to adapt if they don't have a service already, usually hooked in by younger relatives. I will never forget the days of Facebook women asking how to "log in to the Hula" for AMC and OLTL. 

The real problem is the way this is being done - at the last minute seemingly, with minimal PR rollout and promotion even now less than two weeks away, like they're shoving an unwanted relation off onto the equally struggling platform and telling them it's their job to keep Peacock alive or die.

Oh, come on, Doug & Julie are very popular & they do a lot of casual, down home type stuff on twitter, in little videos, in their IG acct. etc. Suzanne of the TV Megasite did a post showing Patch & John at a computer with a link to some how-to info on signing up with Peacock Premie. It was a clever connection. So is Doug  & Julie.

But, I agree that millions of (us, because I am one of 'em) older Americans are already streaming. I think the peeps that cannot imagine doing this or the peeps that do not have access to the Internet is a small subset of the greater whole. I'm 71 & I stream dadgummit.

There are internet savvy people of all ages. The main issue I can see other than if you aren’t reading entertainment news that it wasn’t promoted earlier. I have an older smart tv and I can’t access Peacock on it as the app didn’t exist when the tv was bought and they never updated the software to add the service. I can absolutely see that being a stumbling block for some people who would watch Days — the tv is four years old. Also and now they may sound kind of weird if someone watches the show live over lunch, whether at home or in an office, it may be a habit. And some won’t decide to watch it on a small phone screen at the same time or make the time at another part of the day…aka the casual viewer.

same!  I will try unsubscribing from current account, then try resubscribing in September as a "new subscriber" for the discount.  It might make me use a different email address to be considered "new", which I can do.

I think that people who want to do this, and why wouldn't they, will have to use a totally different email, valid of course, *and* a totally different credit card acct. That would be your 2 preventables!

@Tonksadora @Vee Oh, I love the Hayes' - the are icons! I'm certain NBC/Peacock will turn on the promo right after Labor Day - the week before the move.

Obviously, today's announcement was a big step for Peacock overall. It's also the first real notification that a lot of viewers will get that The Chicagos and L&Os will no longer stream on Hulu. Peacock has a fairly new president so that's why a lot of these changes are happening. She was interviewed by Deadline this morning. (Peacock President Kelly Campbell On Reclaiming Next-Day Premieres From Hulu, Doubling Content Spend And Spurring “Next Evolution Of Growth) - no link since I don't want to violate any copyright rules.

Peacock is desperately trying to get a foothold in the market. Fans shouldn't assume DAYS is being singled out. There's a lot of unhappy Hulu subscribers. NBC/Universal still owns a share of Hulu, but they are suddenly moving that content to Peacock. It's all business.

I love the Chicagos! I didn't know till this minute they were being moved. I don't care because I do both Peacock & Hulu but it's nice to know. Thnx. I wanna like Peacock. Everything I learned about the working relationship betw RC & Al & Peacock doing the BSes & the Xmas show just seemed so collegial & so clearly excited about the prospects.

Go to Privacy.com. As long as you have a legitimate bank account, but want to use a virtual VISA or Mastercard for your personal protection, I would suggest that. To each their own of course. I use it for misc. online purchases. I think Capital One offers something similar if I'm not mistaken.

The primetime shows leaving Hulu this fall and being exclusive to Peacock was announced in March 2022 this article from variety shares that announcement. https://variety.com/2022/digital/news/nbcu-terminates-hulu-tv-disney-peacock-1235196550/ though they didn’t mention Chicago shows by name they said everything so this was decided previously.

I'm pretty sure it's only about email address. If I had two kids and one signed up under their email and the other signed up under theirs but ultimately I'm paying for it, I doubt any streamer will be like "that card is already being used for another account." A buck is a buck.

I was just about to use a free six month premium plan from my TV (via Google) just before the switch for DAYS and I still might since the $1.99 deal doesn't kick in until September 19, one week after DAYS moves to streaming. However, I'll probably purchase an account for a year since you can't pass up $19.99 for a full year of content even if the price might eventually go up, hence even more reason to lock it in for as long as possible at a reduced price.

No, you can add a maximum of 6 people to your Peacock account. I have friends and family members who take advantage of that perk all the time. They'll chip in something like $5/mo and have instant access to Netflix, Disney +, HBOMax, Paramount +, and another streaming service of some sort. I've had invitations, but I have no interest in either one except for Paramount +. Plus, I can easily download and put them in my NAS device if I wanted to. But anywhoos, yes, you can add peeps to your personal Peacock account if you feel like they're worthy, lol!

Okay, now I see the catch. The special promotion price doesn't kick in until *specifically* Sept. 19th, where the show does its move on Sept. 12th. Why would they do that? A test to see if fans will give up a week to save $3 a month? Of course they will. Sheesh. Is there a soap opera sociologist specialist in the house?!
