ARTICLE: ‘The View’ Hits a Season High Across the Board, Increasing Substantially Year Over Year

The 25th season of ABC’s “The View” started off rough with numbers below the show’s year ago performance nearly every week. Things changed, however, during the week of March 28-April 1, 2022 when the daytime talk show attracted its largest overall audience in more than a year (since the week of March 15, 2021), according to figures shared by ABC via Nielsen.

With 2.727 million viewers tuning in, the gabfest hosted by Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro was daytime broadcast’s sixth most watched series out of 13 shows, up from 10th place one week earlier.

In fact, along with CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful,” the show was the biggest gainer in Women 18-49 rating among all of daytime broadcast with an increase of +0.05 in the key sales demo week to week. For the week, the talk show ranked seventh with a 0.34 rating, up from 10th place one week earlier. Among Women 25-54 rating, the show was again up the most week to week among all daytime broadcast shows with an increase of +0.13, placing the show in eighth place overall, up from 11th one week earlier.

In actuals, 308,000 viewers fell in the Women 25-54 demographic with 225,000 viewers falling in the Women 18-49 demo.

On Monday (3/28/22), “The View” scored its top telecast in Total Viewers (3.076 million), Women 25-54 (425,000) and Women 18-49 (302.000) in more than one year — since 3/8/21, 3/8/21 and 2/19/21, respectively. The episode featured guest Jimmy Fallon (“The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”) and the popular “View Your Deal” segment which highlights the hottest items at affordable prices.

Compared to the same week last year when the show aired reruns all week, “The View” showed improvement in Total Viewers (+72% – 2.727 million vs. 1.587 million), Women 25-54 (+29% – 308,000 vs. 238,000) and Women 18-49 (+30% – 225,000 vs. 173,000).
