In 1988 (?), Y&R hired Brenda Epperson to play Ashley Abbott immediately following the departure of Eileen Davidson.  At almost the same time, Jabot's books were being audited by George Rawlins's bossy, assertive, sarcastic niece Brittany Norman, played by Melissa Morgan.  Although Brenda Epperson LOOKED like Ashley, Melissa Morgan was imbued with more of Ashley's personality.  At the time, I felt that those two actresses should've swapped roles.

i get what you're saying but Melisa Morgan physically didn't work as Ashley for me - maybe with blonde hair?

How about Nina Areveson as Ashley and Brenda as Cassandra?

Another thought I had was Lauren Koslow as Jill. She did replace Deb Adair on Days and I could see her as Jill.

Nina Arvesen would've made a good Ashley recast. I can't picture Brenda Epperson as Cassandra though.

Lauren Koslow as Jill in 1983 instead of Brenda Dickson, I could see that.

Oh yeah, Nina Arvesen was aloof & elusive enough to be Ashley Abbott, no doubt about it.

Always thought Lauren Koslow would make a good Jill.

Another World

Philece Sampler would have been better as Nicole Love than Donna.

Laurence Lau gives me more of a Dennis Carrington/Wheeler vibe than Jamie Frame.

Days

For the umpteenth time

Deidre Hall as Sandy Horton

Richard Guthrie as Steve Olsen

Brenda Epperson and Nina Arveson looked alot to me. I could see Nina as Ashley but Not Brenda as Cassaundra, Brenda was too nice.

How about Joe Gallison playing Tommy Horton and Neil's stories be given to Tommy?

Joe was 7 years younger than John Lupton but it could have worked. A few tweaks to the story and Tommy would be a major story rather than an also ran.

Neil's stories and romances were always apart from the Hortons so things wouldn't get tangled .

Of course in later years the marriage to Marie would have to be nixed.

The surrogate story could be Tommy wanting to give his brother Mickey the child he could never have and had lost with Mike.

@ironlion The Bell shows in the late 1980s were packed w/ blondes in the 20s/30s age range. Y&R had MTS, LLB, Barbara Crampton, Nina Arvesen, Brenda Epperson. B&B had Joanna Johnson, KKL, Teri Ann Linn.

The only thing Billy Miller should have been was the security guard who allowed GH actors onto and off the lot.

Ouch

I'd take him over Steve Burton any day of the week

The fact that Steve Burton has two Emmys while other deserving actors have zero tells me all I need to know about the academy

I always thought Elizabeth Dennehy (GL) would have been a better Beth recast than playing Blake. She more resembled the Judi Evans version in looks and personality than Beth Chamberlin did.

I thought that ED's Blake would turn out to be Beth.

I also think that Arianne Munker was hired to play Hope Bauer in the 80s, but she ended up being Christine Valere for some reason.

Murker certainly had the looks to be Hope, but she looked too young to have been married to Alan and be Alan-Michael's mom (Carl T. Evans is only eight years younger than her).

Y&R

Michael Roark who played Travis would have been a good Billy.

Jason Thompson - his somber demeanor  would have been better suited to Adam.
