Clyde didn't have EJ shot.  A man who used to be one of EJ's henchmen - had previously left EJ and had been working for Clyde. One day the henchman got nervous during a meeting and shot EJ without Clyde's foreknowlege.  The henchman acted on his own. That's what aired in 2014.

I wonder if the replay will show the same thing.

 

Edit to add..  The killer's name was Miguel. Clyde observed that Miguel was becoming emotionally erratic. Clyde got his regular henchman Jeremiah to see to it that Miguel be buried in Poplar Bluff.
