It's Ron so of course it's stupid. LOL. And of course it's right as Johnny arrives. I swear this show gets on my ever loving nerve no matter who the writer is. LOL.

And it never fails, secrets come out, we get drama for a day and then boom, someone is gone and then it's on to the next. Ron always skips the true fallout, really. Remember when Duke and Anna were finally reunited on GH back in 2012/2013 and then off-screen for weeks? It's bizarre writing choices. I get it's how he structures things but it's not working for me. (He also did the same on OLTL so it's clearly a budget thing/how he was trained on the ABC soaps and it works with DAYS being so cash-strapped I suppose and low guarantees don't help ...)

I thought she was sticking around longer than this but I don't know now. I assume she is. It seems stupid to set up EJ/Sami/Lucas and then have both men on contract and no Sami ... like, OK? Really Ron?

And it does feel fast but she's been here since February/March. She spent weeks in the Salem PD, wasting time, like Ron does (because they didn't fully have her yet). He's obsessed with her being arrested and in jail for some reason.

It seems like it's a combination of a lot of things; poor writing choices, actor's schedules, an unwillingness to recast, combined with some characters who can't be recast, which I completely understand (Hi, Ali!) and we end up getting rushed things like this

That's the thing. It often feels rushed towards the end. It's just a combination of a lot of things but still, Ron makes the calls as writer (meaning his choices often suck, and I know he can do better). He could do better but sometimes I'm willing to give it a pass, like the Sarah nonsense.

I thought it was a year and they got her late because of Hallmark stuff.   I am glad Ali gets work, but this felt mismanaged.  She barely interacted with Allie.  EJ was brought back for this?  Johnnie hasn't even aired?  Is she in the Beyond Salem stuff?  I saw Christie posting a pic with her so I assumed she was.

I've said this for years - he learned this from Frank Valentini and has done it ever since. They would block-tape people, stagger story for weeks and months at a time in the background, then rush exits and leave stories unfinished for key actors they gamble on having come back eventually. Sometimes it worked, but more often than not it ends up like this.

SOD says EJ kicks Sami out of the DiMera mansion, and then she decides to go visit the Hernandez home to ask Gabi for permission to stay at the DiMansion.  But as Sami approaches Rafe's house, she gets kidnapped.

There was also some weird SOD spoiler for 11 August that Ava wants to exact revenge on Sami.

SOD says Ali Sweeney's arc ends (for now) on 11 August when Sami is kidnapped.

Ali Sweeney stopped taping Days in April because she went to Vancouver, BC to tape some Hallmark movies.  This involved renting a place to stay by herself for two weeks in quarantine before taping, per Canada's Covid rules for people entering Canada at that particular time. (I think the rules are different now but that's what the rules were then.) Anyhow she quarantined for two weeks, then taped a few movies.  Then returned to California in mid-June for a family event.

Ali began taping at Days again sometime in July, (or maybe the end of June).  So basically we will see Sami again sometime in November or December, but it could be earlier because they don't always tape things in order. (No idea how long that next arc lasts)

Edit to add: There was a big announcement last year that she'd be returning to Days with a one-year contract.  And yes that return was delayed because she was filming Hallmark movies in Canada from late August 2020 into some of autumn 2020. Then she finally began taping at Days in late 2020.  Her first airdate was 25 Feb 2021. Jason47 tracks the closing credits.  And every week that Ali has aired in 2021, she was listed with the non-contract cast.

It actually seems like a mismanaged announcement.  Ali had other obligations, but Days went out of it's way to say it's a year.  I am sure she will end up doing a year's worth of work, but everything is mistimed now.

Why would she ask Gabi to stay in the Dimera mansion?  Can't she just go back to her mom and John's house?

I agree 100%! Lucas and Sami having an secret affair as they also spar with each other with EJ and Nicole thrown in the mix just feels like Days. This past year has seriously been the first time I thoroughly enjoyed watching Days since the 2009-2011 period, which was a may have been a strange time for the show but was carried superbly by AS, AZ, LK, NB and SR.

I hate we’ve already lost Jennifer & Abby from the Gwen story and now this with Sweeney taking a break. I can’t stand the Ben/Ciara/Claire hour at all.

    •   1. 11/1/83 cast/set list:

Please register in order to view this content

The "11/2/83" video you posted of Ruth Buzzi's scenes includes Roman and Hope in them, meaning the video you posted is actually 11/1/83, since Roman and Hope aren't in 11/2/83.   2. The video you posted of "11/2/83" has scenes with Roman and Hope. As you can see from my cast/set list, Roman and Hope are not in the 11/2/83 episode (see above note):   4573...11/2/83: Cast: Mickey, Julie, Doug, Maggie, Neil, Don, Marie, Alex, Liz, Andre as Tony, Gwen, Chris, Eugene, Sandy, Letitia, Charlene, Mrs. Whiting, Wanda/Guard, Dave, Delia, Saleslady # 1, Saleslady # 2, Figure in Dark, Raven/animal, Cats/animals, Birds/animals.   2.  11/3/83 :My video collection starts with 11/4/83. so I don't have the 11/1/83 or 11/3/83 video, but in addition to the cast/set list for 11/3/83, here is also the parking clearance call sheet for that day, showing Ruth was not only in the cast/set list but did work that day:     They even had hired the animal trainer and all the animals for the day, so It's sort of a certainty that her scenes were not cut that day, or it would have been a big waste of the budget. 3. As for 11/7/83, I just fast-forwarded through that whole episode myself. Letitia is in it from start to finish. It's her big final episode where she is killed. She starts the episode saying "Eugene, are you there?" In the next act, Marlena shows up and meets Letitia's lion. Later in the episode, Letitia is killed by "Eugene" (the Salem Slasher in a Eugene mask).   So, as we can see from your own post, the 11/2/83 date you have listed on that video is incorrect, since Hope and Roman are in that video but not in the 11/2/83 episode. It seems the dates you have on all your early November 1983 episodes are incorrect.   When you post videos and suggest that my data is incorrect, do you not first compare who is in the scenes and see if that matches who is in the episode? You didn't do that with the "11/2/83" episode, which based on Roman and Hope being in it means that is actually 11/1/83. Best to do something like that first before suggesting my data and research is incorrect.
    • Within the Dupree family, I predict Vernon/Anita will be conflicted about what to do about Bill and his role in the whole Ted/Silk Press Sheila situation... especially since Bill knows where the particular bone about Martin is buried. Dani, Chelsea, and Naomi's reactions to what Bill possibly did isn't hard to guess.. but Hayley's reactions will be interesting to hear.  Especially given her recent pregnancy scare.. she might not be so much on Bill's side, or she'll totally surprise us and be totally on Bill's side.   Either way, I think Martin's secret will be the main focus in May sweeps.. with the fall out of the Eva secret playing out in the background... while the Joey/Vanessa/Doug thing continues to boil/develop.
    • Hotel was The Love Boat on land but a little soapier. I will forever maintain that Hotel was a time slot hit. I don't believe that 1983/84 Hotel was a better show than Knots Landing.

    • The timing is strange, though. How far in advance would they normally be on location? The Achille Lauro hijacking was on October 7, 1985. Nancy had arrived in Egypt in the storyline by October 18. But the character of Hawk, Chris' Native American friend from Arizona, had already appeared onscreen by September and brought a letter telling Chris to be in Egypt by October 25th.  Why did they already have the link to Arizona before the reason to cancel the shoot in Egypt?  The dust and the jar it came in were from Egypt though. Nancy bought it there and sent it to Mac as a gift before she came back to the states and followed Chris to Arizona.
    • Actually that is not what happened. Nor is the timing right for it to have been. We learned from a WOST interview with Pete Lemay  in 2006, which can be found on YT, that it was Fred Silverman's idea to do the 90 minute show. I don't know how much you know about him but he had these amazing successes as head of daytime at both ABC & at CBS. Then he came to NBC where basically everything he touched turned NOT TO GOLD but to shite. Some of the most expensive shows ever produced up to that time were huge flops. Although even he, like a broken clock, could be right on occasion. However, as we know, he was not right about the 90 minute show. As a matter of fact, afterward,  NBC programmers, who worked FOR him, were asked why they did it & they were quoted as saying it was because they couldn't think of anything else to try. It was a stupid idea from a man who had reached the point where he was throwing anything at the wall to see if it would stick.

    • I stopped watching Another World in 1990. Simply, lost interest in the show.  I had watched the show from 1973 to 1990. The 90 minute show started the decline of AW.  NBC panicked with expanding AW due to the GH hoopla. As mentioned above, 1982 was a trainwreck for AW.  The introduction of the Shea family, the movie storyline involving Jamie, and Steve Frame favoring Rachel over Alice. The writers went into that direction due to the forgettable performance of Linda Borgeson.

    • Ive seen that theory thrown out but the one thing against it is that Leslie and her family lived in Chicago. She only came back to DC last year after her husband died. Unless they say Alan made a trip to DC and died while away, she wouldnt know about that. However I do think the angle of her finding out that Martin was involved could work as that gives her leverage against Bill too for covering it up. She'd want to get revenge on him by threatening to have him disbarred
