There's going to be a lot of rubbernecking over the Reiners' film Being Charlie in the days to come - one of Rob's last films, written by Nick, semi-autobiographical about Nick's addiction. Rob obviously made it to support his son getting sober and they did the whole press tour together.

I didn't see the movie so I don't know how it treats the parents but it will be a very unfortunate, disturbing Hollywood curio like the Twilight Zone film going forward.

detailed recap of that film

don’t know why the link’s not working. the gist is that the reiner’s son nick has been arrested and is being held on $4 million bail.

Because your link actually leads to the last page when I put the cursor over it. I think you're pasting the wrong URL into your link.

tr*mp continues to be horrific

from the nytimes link with live updates about Rob Reiner:
https://www.nytimes.com/live/2025/12/15/us/rob-michele-reiner-dead?unlocked_article_code=1.808.vCxj.TQmQs5NV070s&smid=url-share

Although there is no evidence that the stabbing deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, were at all connected to his Democratic politics, President Trump seized on their deaths to attack the Hollywood couple, suggesting that their criticism of him may have led to the killings.

The president wrote on Truth Social that the couple’s deaths were “reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.”

Trump’s post led to immediate outrage, even from some fellow Republicans. “Regardless of how you felt about Rob Reiner, this is inappropriate and disrespectful discourse about a man who was just brutally murdered,” Representative Thomas Massie, Republican of Kentucky, wrote on social media. “I guess my elected GOP colleagues, the VP, and White House staff will just ignore it because they’re afraid? I challenge anyone to defend it.”

Michelle and I are heartbroken by the tragic passing of Rob Reiner and his beloved wife, Michele. Rob’s achievements in film and television gave us some of our most cherished stories on screen. But beneath all of the stories he produced was a deep belief in the goodness of people—and a lifelong commitment to putting that belief into action. Together, he and his wife lived lives defined by purpose. They will be remembered for the values they championed and the countless people they inspired. We send our deepest condolences to all who loved them.

NYTimes regarding his wife
Michele Singer Reiner, who was a photographer

One day, she visited the New York set of the romantic comedy “When Harry Met Sally…” and was watching a scene in which Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal’s lovesick characters argue with each other when Mr. Reiner, the film’s director, spotted her in the distance.

“I look over and I see this girl, and ‘Whoo!’ I was attracted immediately,” he told The New York Times in 1989, recalling the pair’s meeting.

A few months later, the photographer and director married — and their relationship inspired Mr. Reiner to change the ending of his most famous movie. “Originally, Harry and Sally didn’t get together,” he told the Guardian in 2018. “But then I met Michele and I thought: ‘OK, I see how this works.’” Harry and Sally had to marry each other, too.

My God. To turn on my desktop and read that Rob Reiner (and his wife) and Tony Geary have both passed away. It's just so much to take in on a Monday morning that I'm struggling to find the right words. I pray for peace for all their loved ones, and for all of us who have enjoyed their work over the years.

Well this is turning out to be quite the banner week. First the voice of Sheen from Jimmy Neutron dies along with the voice of Doug Dimmedome from "Fairly Oddparents" and now Rob Reiner and Anthony Geary. People cheering over Rob Reiner dying are so horribly disgusting it pisses me off. And I really hope that whoever killed Rob and his wife gets the maximum penalty possible.

Rob Reiner's death is a body blow. He was immensely talented, creating endless classics. When Harry Met Sally is my favorite. More importantly, he used his platform to advocate for others.

I don't know why this is hitting me so hard but I just feel this all over. You wake up to one shooting after another and then this. I can't even begin to imagine what his family is going through.
