  • https://deadline.com/2026/06/james-burrows-dead-tv-comedy-director-cheers-friends-1236962934/ James Burrows was so influential in TV comedy for decades and decades.

  • It was a dream of mine to work with Mr. Burrows, whom I consider to be the greatest director ever to work in half-hour comedy (next to Jay Sandrich, also gone). Sadly, that dream, like so many others

  • Max Wright passed in 2019, Benji Gregory passed in 2024, and we just lost Anne Schedeen. ALF 40th anniversary is in September and Andrea Elson is the only main cast member still with us.

She sounded like a hoot. Love that Lauren Bacall story.

So did I! Maybe with Bacall, it was a case of Like recognising Like. Helen McCrory had something very old-school movie star about her, but with acting chops. I saw clips of her stage performance in The Deep Blue Sea and she reminded me a little of Ava Gardner.

Wow. Loved the campy drama of “Paradise by the Dashboard Light,” “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” and “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now.”

:(

"Total eclipse of the heart" would rank very close to the top if I compiled a list of my all-time favourite songs.

I loved that Lauren Bacall story - and her statement about love not being possessive - what a fabulous woman and what a loss to her family and friends.

The Bay City Rollers had such a tragic history as a band - exploited, abused, robbed. I love a lot of their songs. Sad news about McKeown.
