Hospitalizations should be given a bit more weight as they are a lead indicator of how much damage us being done to our health systems and the public at large.

Omicron is spreading like wildfire in Western Europe. It is already the dominant variant in London and, according to my family in NY, they are worried about this happening in NYC soon. Omicron literally came upon us with a quickness (my brother tested positive for Covid, as did some other people I know -- all people who are ultra-careful with masking and mingling). I am shocked at how rapidly it has hit.

This Irish radio skit kind of sums up what's happening here:

That's horrible. Just because they are selfish and don't want to protect others doesn't mean they should keep those who want the shot from getting it. They should be arrested. 😡😡😡😡😡

Various articles wherever refer to the person or persons they are writing about as "fully vaccinated".
At this point does that mean Johnson and Johnson one-shot? Other vaccines two shots? That's what "fully vaccinated" has meant for the past year.

Now I think articles should specify
"fully vaccinated but not boosted"
or
"fully vaccinated AND boosted"
Because otherwise, the reader doesn't have the proper context when reading about whatever symptoms are occurring in new breakthrough infections since omicron began spreading.

Yes, I know. The Universities were the first to conduct testing in the U.S., which was already behind other industrialized countries in testing wastewater.

I meant that this likely means the Omicron variant is more widespread in the U.S. than is being reported. Delta was turning up in wastewater systems before it became the dominant strain of COVID-19.

And omicron is on an even faster path, as unfortunately, I knew it would be.

Like it or not, Covid isn't going away..and most people have accepted some risk to actually live life.  Sad, but true.
