Angelica McDaniel OUT! (CBS Daytime)

lmao, the show was in the pooper looooooooooooooooooong before the Rosales came on the scene. One name: Adam Newman. But tbh, it started on a downward spiral when they killed John Abbott, just to have some stupid ghost dad story...

i'm still baffle they haven't REALLY attempted to recast Mackenzie. I always thought they should have left Phyllis in a coma, and cast GT as Mac. The way the Chancellor legacy on the show basically consists of their maid and her kin... a damn mess.

I actually see "The Talk" going before either "B&B" or "Y&R," honestly since that show was McDaniel's baby, ratings are WAY down and its creator, Sara Gilbert, is no longer at the helm on the day-to-day.

I am sad that CBS Daytime as a division is no more, but in today's television climate it makes sense. If the CBS Daytime branding goes, which I don't expect it to, it won't be too much of a bad thing considering where we are in the entertainment world compared to 15 years ago (or whenever it was) when NBC got rid of NBC Daytime and five years ago when ABC got rid of ABC Daytime.

Just my 2 cents...

+1

It's the end of an era. And for that, it's bitter. But programming and viewing habits are so different now. I mean, my favorite show, Star Trek: Discovery, was never, nor was it designed to be, regular programming on the small screen. 10 years ago, I wouldn't have ever thought that possible.

it's not hate, per se.But the way story is constantly revolving around him and his stupid angst is like... get over it already! He still hasn't paid for killing Ashley+Vic's baby and having her run around with a dead baby in her stomach for weeks. They are constantly trying to push this "sympathy for the devil" narrative and it's like zZZZZ at this point.

I never liked the idea of turning a legacy character into the shows main antagonist for story after story. It changed the way stories on Y&R were created. Newman versus Newman never left much story or airtime for anyone else.

I don't expect Jason Thompson to last very long. I got the impression than Angelica was his champion

    • I know there was one brief scene in the summer of 1989 where Lillian did mention Calla.. but in relation to her past relationship to Ross and it was to Roger while he was a patient at Cedars.  I think he was trying to pump her for information on Ross.. and for some reason, Calla's name came up.   I could see perhaps Beth mentioning that her mother Lillian was visiting Calla.. but not exactly giving any sort of details as to the going ons in Calla's life off screen.

    • They're neither great nor terrible AFAIK, but it is more a question of the streaming numbers in this day and age vs. actual TV airings. The Chibnall era reminded me much more of the crisis years, but I do think it's a very real possibility now as well due to the streaming bubble collapse affecting the show and its prospects.
    • ANYTHING to get her off the screen..she COULD have been interesting if she and Van had a few face offs..(there was a mild one of her going back to work...but I wanted something meatier "Bitch, I am Vanessa Chamberlain and I don't take advice from someone who followed the..career path you did!" I did like Alex's outright disdain for her.
    • Thanks @Vee for the commentary.    I haven’t even watched this season yet after  I couldn’t get past the couple episodes last season…like it was too Disneyified for my taste, although I did think it was a least better than the Chibnall era (but so is a lot of things). I’ll probably go back and binge it now. Hoping this season ends on a high note. I did read the ratings are terrible. As it stands I’m beginning to feel like what long time DW fans felt with S26 in 1989.
    • Yes, they are all on contract. Next.
    • I also never understood Alex's friendship with Sonni or keeping the secret of Marah's paternity.  Not exactly heartbroken about Ms. Sally being ushered to the Hereafter.

I'm sorry but I'm a glutton for punishment. Would love to see this woman OWNING the canvas. Telling off Leslie who tells her she's the head b!tch.
    • And in case anyone is confused; Rusty was hired by HB to work undercover and infiltrate some gang sabotaging Lewis.
