I loved Ellen Wheeler during her first stint of AW but not so much the second. Though that was probably more the writing where they made Marley crazy.

I'm glad I never watched much of GL during the Peapack debacle. The few times I tried to watch the show I couldn't handle the way they were shooting it. As far as the building houses out in the community thing, I tune in to soaps to watch something dramatic, soapy, and escape...not watch someone pound nails and building a house. I could do that somewhere here in town!

If she was, no one knew about it. But, you have to remember that when she had the DUI & terrible accident, it was years after she'd left AW. End of AW, she was at ATWT for 2 days. Then she went directly to GH. Didn't she do Y&R after that? And, then, she had the accident. I think that tracks.

Amen!

Amen to this as well!

Although I give GL's cast and crew for "giving back" on the occasion of their big anniversary...yeah, that needed to be left out of the show.

These two are the options? Wheeler or Phelps? Is there a none of the above option?JFP did much more damage to daytime than Wheeler did. She ruined four shows I watched before her tenure (had given up on YR by the time she got her grubby hands on it). I know people get up in arms about the Peapack stuff, but if the story had been there, I think viewers would have gone with it to save their show. I think Goutman was worse than Wheeler (as his tenure went on) but that's hardly praise.

Goutman is a mixed bag because he was good at AW & terrible at ATWT. You'd need a third show tiebreaker. I think it's shameful that people blame Ellen for the things they do. Phelps is much worse. Conboy is much worse. Then you have peeps like Rauch who also were mixed  bags - great some places & rotten to the core elsewhere. And we're not even getting into one of the worst modern aspects & that' s network interference!

It's just like when DAYS fans had to decide whether Stefano DiMera or John Black had fathered Hope Brady's baby.  Then, like now, no matter who you voted for, you knew you wouldn't feel good about it later.

    • Sadly, that was more than some African-American characters get on soaps today.
    • I've been rewatching old episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine on ParamountPlus.  There are times when Captain Sisko visits his father in New Orleans.  Sisko's father runs a restaurant with specific local New Orleans cuisine, and we actually see and hear him recommending specific dishes to the restaurant customers.  I can almost smell the aromas. I'd like to see occasional mention of the menu at Orphey Gene's Soul Food Cafe.  Someone orders something, or mentions how much they enjoy something.  They named Orphey Gene's after MVJ's mother.  I want to feel it as a soul food restaurant and not as a generic diner set for conversations.  I mean it obviously it will still be used as set for conversations, but give it more specific atmosphere.
    • Yes but, after Lucas, Lance, Leslie, Lorie, Bill Bell definitely had a “house code” when it came to character naming conventions.
    • IKR. I hollered just now. I totally agree. Even now the Doug/Joey/Vanessa storyline is moving from C to B and doesn't even touch on the crooked cop part of Joey's storyline. It's similar to what they did with Martin's secret...just idling on the backburner all of Month 2 until this month regaining a build to it. I feel the same about the crooked cop storyline.    And I can't wait for the police fundraiser. Hoping to see more of Jacob's family then as well.
    • LOL @Taoboi and I posted the same thing at the same time. And during the convo between Anita and police chief Elon, we learned that Elon's wife (Jacob's mother) is the police dispatcher and Jacob's brother is another cop. So maybe the reveal will happen after the entire family is shown onscreen?
    • LOL. Great minds.

    • Don't insult the deliciousness of the Orphey Gene's food like that!

Wasn't that poised for August, though?  Or was that another event?
    •   I wouldn't be too worried. I've noticed that this show is VERY good at bringing back up a story/plot thread right as someone mentions it on this board. Most soaps might drop or forget one, but this show always loops back around and tries its best to not insult the audience's intelligence.   Heck, we still have Anita's police fundraiser to look forward to, and it has not been mentioned in...mmmm...a month?
    • I think the story with Jacob's partner the shady cop is coming.  Remember a while back, we saw Jacob's father the police chief Elon Hawthorne, trying to defend the situation to Jacob.  And separately, we saw Chief Elon ask Anita to help with the police event. *Speculation only* that the Articulettes (or Anita solo) will sing at the police event.  I think bits and pieces of the cop/mobster storyline are being shown very intermittently, and it will build into a C story, then B, and then more, as the event gets closer. But for now the focus is on reuniting the Articulettes.
