I've seen him in a few things and always thought he was a great actor. Totally miscast as Edward on GH but he gave his best.

The only love interest that ever made Deidre Hall give a great performance, IMO. I never understood why Don Craig was written out of DAYS history the way he was...

 

He’ll always be CC to me as well. One of the actors that brought so much to SB, even when the material just wasn’t there. RIP.

OMG. Don Craig was before my soap-watching time (I was a wee one when he was on Days), but I loved him as C.C. Capwell on Santa Barbara. He could be ruthless one minute, tender the next. And his son often played young C.C. in flashbacks.  May Mr. Allan rest in peace.

Has any writer ever explained why Don Craig was just completely written out of the show’s history?

I think the show, much like GH and Y&R deliberately ignored almost everything that happened before 1981 ish through today.

 

Sometimes they would pay a little service to that- Hope’s mother was mentioned often.  The Hardy’s on GH.  And Jill and Katherine on Y&R.

 

But those three shows really acted like their earlier years happened to different shows.

Agreed. Although he was wrong for the role of Edward, he should have been brought on as another ruthless Q relative and that could have rejuvenated the whole family.

I know it’s far fetched by it would be cool if Days paid tribute to the iconic character with Marlena or Maggie receiving a call from Donna that he has passed away. 

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Jed was up for the role of Gregory Richards (which ultimately went to Sam Behrens) when Sunset Beach was originally being cast in 1996.
