@cassadine1991 Once Julie Chen 'told' Hilary to treat Mariah better, it's clear that was a shift from the ridiculous Mariah/Hilary nonsense- they've had very few scenes together. There was no reason why Hilary should be jealous of Mariah and the rivalry didn't work. Both actors were very uncomfortable with the negative scenes. Unlike Hilary/Lily - MM/CK are totally alive when they are sniping.

But in reality doesn't every character, except Jack, try to make Hilary seem 'bad'? Everyone is judging her and criticizing her. Somehow her being ruthless in work makes her unworthy of love. MM is a star and they need to be comfortable with making her strong, unapologetic and business savvy.

I think Hilary is strong, unapologetic, ruthless, and business savvy. So they don't seem to have a problem with writing her that way. They just think her being that way is a problem and tells us we shouldn't like it or her and it's something she must change or overcome to be worthy of love and respect.

That's true, but we're talking about the way her character/personality was morphed & adjusted to the point it almost seems like we're watching an adult Cassie. The more fun, sarcastic, fυck-this kind of Mariah is not really there much. She was her own person (which is why I accepted the usually loathed previously-unknown twin scenario), and back then, if you'd put her with the Newmans, you'd never mistake her for Cassie.

I get it and agree. They changed her to make her a heroine so that she could be the counter to vixen hilary and deserving of the life that Hilary would lose to her. I see how it was necessary for the story they wanted to tell. You can't paint one character as undeserving, take her life, and give it to another character similar to her. But that goes to show that Mariah should have never been in that story. It wasn't for her if she had to be changed to make it work

I just wish they'd left Mariah with her original personality and not morphed her into Cassie 2.0. Everything would be better then.

Yeah Mariah started watering down when snaky Tech girl arrived, then snarky Chloe came back, and with whiny Summer gone they need a good girl

I like Reed/Mattie despite them being obvious Daily 2.0

Big agree! It's sad. At least I cared about Cassie.

I'm also a bit biased about CG. I used to love her, then I saw a live chat she did with SC. She came across so full of herself, and she kept interrupting SC while never apologizing. lol I know I shouldn't judge but I couldn't help it.

OMG Saint Devon is first on that list! I wish Hillary would cut him loose.

No one would blink if a male host were as 'ruthless' as Hillary. I know for a fact nobody has called out Jack and Victor for being ruthless businessmen per se.

I don't know what the show is going for with Devon with respect to Hilary. What are we supposed to believe? He bad mouths her to Jordan. Why? Is it cause he wants to protect other men from her? Or is it cause he wants Jordan to dump her cause he wants her alone and miserable? Why? Cause he's bitter? Jealous?  His writing gets odder by the day. And I've lost interest in his story and no longer care about his opinion of Hilary.  Without my stan glasses  to cloud things, she's well rid of him and has been thriving without him. Why should she want him back?

If they are, Y&R not going to show it.

I've seen folks blame the lack of love scenes for them on it being IR. But I tend to disagree. I think it's more to do with CG. They seem to have issues showing her in those types of scenes. They didn't show much with Kevin either.

She probably has trouble falling asleep.

Big agree on CG's love scenes. I watched the preview for the week, and I am happy they are showing CG in a bikini. She has a healthy body and I say more power to her. The writers need to give Mariah her personality back and her sexual energy.

Hilary is an empowered woman. They make things for that. Lol. Besides, she's got Jordan to stud for her.

I thought she looked great in the preview too. It's no coincidence that Mariah never really had a real love interest or boyfriend until now.

I've seen Mondays show and I don't know what to make of the happenings of that Jordan/Hilary/Devon/Mariah qaud. Devon's behavior gets dumber by the day.

Devon basicly ignores Mariah to stare at Hilary (and Jordan) for what seems like the ENTIRE episode.

+1. And there really was no reason for it either. Mariah was accepted because she was different/not a replacement Cassie.

Exactly

Exactly. Was that mostly during Jelly's run when she had more interactions with the Newmans, because she didn't really do much under Pratt

She's really beautiful. Back then when they gave Mariah some fire and oomph, I wanted her to seduce Kyle and/or Fen and have a rivalry with Summer like their mothers did

Should Y&R have a storyline where Victor Newman is brutally raped by at least one other grown man?

What do you mean, YRBB?  Do you mean that Victor Newman would not have survived such an attack?

Victor was indeed raped by Tricia! Although they never used the word rape.

No offense, but what I've had in mind is Victor Newman being brutally raped by at least one male assailant.  To understand what I'm getting at, think of the 1988 Santa Barbara storyline where poor Eden Capwell was brutally raped by a man who turned out to be her gynecologist.

Doubt that would happen to Victor.
