However it turns out I'll just be happy to see them all again. At its best it was one of the best sitcoms in TV history. And it is more relevant today, for better and worse. It can't turn out worse than the lottery season.

(Thank God that awful vocal theme is gone)

I'm sure they'll both play a substantial role. I think the reason why we're seeing so much of Sara and Roseanne (at least in the beginning stages) is because they're both also producers on this reboot -  it was Sara who got everyone together and got this project off the ground. So they both probably have a vested interest in the creative and financial ends as well.

I agree that everyone looks happy to be doing this, and (other than maybe Lecy and Michael), none of them are really hurting for money. Roseanne doesn't have to work a day in her life again, Sara has The Talk, and John and Laurie both have successful film and theater careers. They all just seem very game to make this happen.

Wow. Great news on both.

Found some of this social media stuff in the articles on Galecki - the cast, Whitney Cummings, and some of the kids. In the taping curtain call video Darlene's little boy (next to Lecy), who I think they said is maybe pre-gay or genderfluid, is wearing a skirt.

Michael Fishman always seems like such a sweet guy but I'm far from convinced he can still sort of act, which is generally the most he could manage. We'll see!

Thanks for posting those social media pics. I share your sentiment on Michael Fishman. LOL.

Really surprised but happy about Chuck. Hopefully we see Anne-Marie and Natalie West/Crystal. I got a bit tired of her but I'd also hope to see Sandra Bernhard, also Fred Willard and Martin Mull. But they have a little more than a handful of episodes so I imagine they can't bring EVERYONE back, but it'd be nice to get some cameos.

Wow, Estelle Parsons and James Pickens Jr. And the return of "David Healey!" This is all shaping up very nicely.

Meanwhile, a Roseanne mystery I always wondered about: How/why did the entry to the basement switch half-way through the series, and then return back to where it should've always remained (off the right side of the kitchen, beyond the "floating" stove/counter area) at the series finale? Around seasons 6-7, they made it seem like the entrance to the basement was from the laundry room/service porch, which, as noted early on, itself was an addition made to the house because "Dan got tired of watching Roseanne doing laundry in the rain."

Leon and Nancy were the major supporting/recurring characters in the last 5 seasons or so, so it would be strange if they didn't come back for an episode or so. I know Roseanne is still close to Sandra Bernhard.

I'd be more surprised if we ever saw Natalie West as Crystal again, considering she was phased out of the original show when Roseanne found another group of friends. That character always felt very weird to me - I don't know if it was conscious or not, but I always felt like she wanted Roseanne's life:

  • She seemed to have a crush on Dan that she couldn't act on, so she married Dan's father instead to insert herself into actual Roseanne's family
  • She always seemed insanely jealous of Roseanne and Jackie's relationship - as if she also wanted Jackie's place in Roseanne's life (Roseanne's own damn sister)

Count me in as one who'd like to see Crystal again. As weird as she was, I think everyone who's ever lived in a town like Lanford knows a Crystal or two. I hate to say it, but of all the characters, I feel as though Crystal is one who might've actually died at some point over the last 20 years. It'd be interesting to have at least one of her kids via Ed pop up.

Very excited to see Estelle Parsons back as Bev! And James Pickens, Jr, too! Characters like Crystal, the Mitchells, and Bonnie represent so much of what I love about the first 5 seasons of the show.

    • This is a effin shame. Eff Trump and eff the bastards that enable him.
    • I 100% agree but I think this is due to how the show is structured. It's a one family show which means there are no people in her age range that could be used as friends or contemporaries of her. The show definitely needs a second main family. I am glad someone finally said this. Especially now that the cast is gelling in their roles, he stands out like a sore thumb. No energy, no chemistry with anybody. He is just there.  I thought that was odd as well! The previous scene would've worked better as a tag for the credits.
    • That's the one and only Carrie Nye (Mrs. Dick Cavett) as Susan Piper, a deadly realtor. I don't want to spoil a lot if you ever want to see those episodes. She returns as another character in 2003. I think Grant has aged well and he always did a good job at being ripped without going too far, but he was never entirely my cup of tea either. I did think John Bolger was hot.
    • Totally agree. KKL looks great! It makes the Widge groveling so bizarre. Brooke needs to leave FC and with $B's/Liam's funding launch a rival fashion house with Hope, Rick, Katie and a secret designer. The best scenario is that Rick has been absent because he's been with very much alive C2, who is revealed on the runway as the secret designer. It'll never happen because B&B is comfortable just focusing on FC and the Forresters Marones v. Logans. But it'd been so much more interesting if the Spencers/Logans united.

    • Haha that scarf thing did go on a bit too long, very odd. And what a young Rick!  I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I just never got the physical appeal of Grant Aleksander, but he's definitely a great actor. Who is the older lady around the 8:30 mark, and also ends the episode, alone and in pain? She seems like a really interesting character. I love the smoky voice and sultry, snaky vibe she seems to have.
    • I can't remember exactly but I think she lives in or is part of the cottage story with Carrie. Carrie poisons her in this episode.  I forgot Teresa was on the show. (I see that AI is insisting she wasn't - well they're wrong) Poor Maeve. I can how even she had her limits.
    • It pisses me off that the other Duprees are making this incident all about them as well. They are playing a family of victims, acting as if Ted cheated on all of them. They should be supportive, but not like this. I have a family that makes anything that happens to me personally all about them, and seeing the same thing on TV is rage-inducing.
    • There are the makings of good Emmy reels in these past couple of episodes, but the industry is still going to favor even the most mediocre stories and performances on the older soaps. And with the pressure from the government over race I can see the academy shutting out Beyond The Gates to avoid criticism from the administration and the far right media.
    • oh, definitely! It's too bad she hit the start of a rough transition period for the show. She shines, but she's stuck with bad story and some (if not exactly bad) not great co-stars.  Uh, who did Maureen O'Sullivan play? (Sigh--and only if I'd understood exactly who and how wonderful Teresa Wright was in '86) God, the summer of '84 was literally one event after another. Kim's outfit alone must've been worth a small fortune. And poor Maeve. She looks so uncomfortable. Rebecca Hollen told a story on Locher Room where Maeve dropped the f-bomb during the shooting of it. For some reason, she wasn't being listened to, and had just had enough. As a producer, I would've been holding my breath as my pregnant actress kept walking around strange and undoubtably uneven sets in that long skirt.
