I thought for sure Nicole was naming the baby Danielle too! I was just waiting for it but Holly was a pleasant surprise.

I assume Abby is using the "secret tunnels" to get in and out of the mansion, but yes, since half the town knows about them there should definitely be some kind of security.

I was waiting for it too lol. Security is needed for sure. Funny how you always hear about it but people can come and go like it's nothing. And not one staff member has seen her sneaking in and out, especially Thomas's room? Lol. But then again like I've said before I stopped applying logic to Days a long time ago. Look at Hope in prison. The town just comes and goes and she can do what she wants.

I watched a bit of Philip's exit - while JPL seemed to be doing Fire Marshall Bill for some of it, his hair looked much better. That early '90s Grant Show look doesn't work for most men (it didn't then either) but it does for him.

I see that A Martinez is still wearing that wretched pube beard that makes him look like a perverted goat,

So true. The hair sort of worked for JPL I guess. And I felt in terms of looking similar a bit to JKJ, he was an OK Philip. I didn't like his tics when he first came on but he toned it down and I even sort of liked his goodbye with Kate. I'm guessing they're hedging on getting JKJ back at some point? I don't know why this show can't seem to keep Philip around or write for him. JKJ couldn't run from the show fast enough with Tomsell in charge. And I didn't blame him (or Peter Reckell) at the time.

A's pube beard is awful.

Apparently the goodbye with Kate (and earlier Victor) was his last episode. I didn't remember seeing that anywhere but I'm sure someone posted his last airdate somewhere.

@JAS0N47 should know

Basically saying goodbye. I think he once again threw a fit about Titan and Victor and wants to "go his own way". He had earlier attacked Deimos for drugging him. Victor treated Philip like crap but apparently they had worked on their relationship? I guess I need to pay more attention at times ... LOL but that's the gist of it.

Really, Days?  The Abby/Chad reveal needed a big dose of Viagra.  Gloria Monty or Bill Bell would have milked Chad's discovery of Abby and the baby for at least two gripping episodes with long scenes and tons of melodrama.  Instead, we got the ho hum mini scenes buried among all the C plots with Paul the Elf, Sonny the boring and recurring Justin/Adrienne (lovely as they've been) not to mention Jade/Joe (goddess help us).  The show spent more emotional capital on Jenn's discovery of Abby, Abby climbing through windows, Abby/Andre than they did with this reveal.  What happened to milking the beats of your A story with your A couple, with your leading young man who would be long gone except for that five year contract and the two year advance taping schedule (LOL).  They spent more time and drama on dramatic Adrienne breast cancer/wedding beats than Chad finding Abby.  When the three exec producers, five producers, 16 writers, six directors, and dozens of other production staff get together, are they playing pokeman go instead of planning out gripping daytime television?  I spent more time noticing that Gabi was telling Ari to look at the hospital tree lights (when I don't think the tree lights were on...LOL) than I did waiting to tune in to see the next 1minute and 45 second scene between Abby and Chad.  Note to producers: even the viewers in RED states can follow a five minute scene end to end with no other scenes.  Who remembers Adam/Nicole on New Years Eve or Iva and Lily or Morgan and Kelly.  Long, powerful gripping scenes that satisfied viewers with a big emotional payoff.  Duh

Other notes:

Paul:  why are they playing him like a saint?  He is not Davey of Davey and Goliath claymation Sunday series (anyone old enough to remember that show?)  Every time he flashes his pearly whites I think, try acting school instead of invisalign. But the writing for him sucks too.  Davey!

Nicole/Chloe plot:  Really with the Chicago is paralyzed and they get stuck in a boring 1970s hotel set to deliver the Christmas miracle.  Chloe was having contractions at Horton Square Brick Wall Coffee Shop, I mean Starbucks Chicago, and Nicole couldn't get her to urgent care? Why not have Nicole find Chloe at a church praying and they get stuck there and delivery on the alter?  Or Chloe visits a friends Xmas decorated cabin outside of Chicago, Nicole finds her and they get stuck?

No we don't need Shelly Altman or Jean Passanante but Days needs a Frank Valentini.  I think he'd be well suited to the Higley/Quan era.

But don't ya just love Victor?  I love the retirement outfits he's been in.  And kudos to J.A. for continuing to work and deliver stellar performances.  He even made John Paul's last episode watchable.

The prison stuff is laughable. So bad.

Chad was so noble coming to Gabi's defense

Yeah, Abby can blame herself but LOL. The writing is such trash. Sorry Chad. I don't really feel badly for you. Not when your blue balls are what's leading your thinking.

And don't you love it how a guard is hovering nearby when Hope's with a loved one, but never there when Coco and Sheila are ready to pounce? Lawd. So bad. I've never been to prison but prisoners just have free run of the place? Really?

The best thing about Hope's lame story was Dot Jones.  Chillie of course was killed off

.  It's funny what few inmates are at the prison hang out at the tiny rec room/visitation room unsupervised.  Shane popping out of nowhere to reveal Steffy D is alive was too random. All of JJ's spark and backbone have been drained from him. I never been a fan of basic Gabi but she's become insufferable.

Of course he can get Hope out of jail yet pretty much allows his daughter to go into sex slavery to some mob kingpin

Coco and Sheila  I want them to get out of jail to on a work release program. Let them loose to randomly terrorize the people of Salem, starting with Claire

    • No idea if this one had ever been up before or what the exact date is, but it's always good to look at/save the new AMC content while you can. If you're here for the drama there is some delirium with Adam and Erica about 10-12 minutes in.

    • I think there's a story to tell in someone who always believed in honesty and integrity being emmeshed in so many lies, but I agree that it wasn't very well laid out over the last few months. I think if I was more invested in Lois, I would have more of an issue than I do. Few can hold up against Jane. This is one of those cases where I think mentioning who already switched babies or have long-lost children would just take away from the fallout. If Lulu wants to drag Brook Lyn for hypocrisy there is probably still time (if the show bothers). I don't think anyone would claim these are the best GH episodes ever. It may be very lowered expectations at play. But I do think that scenes like yesterdays were some of Tracy's best, as she is a character who is often not allowed that type of moment.
    • You would think that, wouldn't you? I'd almost think they needed the money to get Robert Newman back, but they also had to know Larkin wasn't going to stick around and play second banana either. I don't get what the writers thought they were doing with Calla. Long liked using actors from Texas, but other than Alex/Bev McKinsey, the characters she wrote for them seemed blah.
    • Bo has a bad history with kids named Zach. (too soon?)
    • Christie said in her interview this week that she recently started taking acting classes again, and has been doing some work in England, so that helped her to jump into Carrie for this (as well as it being all so familiar, it really was home.)
    • Andrea Barber aka Kimmy Gibbler did have a few scenes with Drake too, when he first came on. Christie came in the middle of that storyline
    • Carrie, as played by Andrea Barber, was at Bo & Hope's wedding. She was the flower girl. The ringbearer was Zachary Parker, the little boy that Megan tried to pass off as her and Bo's son. Andrea's Carrie was at Tony & Anna's real wedding (Aug. 5, 1985). She appeared for the last time on March 21, 1986. Christie's Carrie debuted on April 14, 1986. It appears that Carrie remained in Salem, just off-screen, during that near-month. Christie picked up with what Andrea had been playing, apprehension over John.
    • I don't think she is. I think she just created some really boring characters and for some reason doesn't know what to do with them.  But let's say that she is being force to write these characters that she doesn't like or want to write for.......that's a really bad sign that the creator of the show is being told what to do from the very beginning.  With so many EPs, I was worried there could be too many cooks in the kitchen, too many people giving notes - all those EPs are representing companies who have a stake in the show.    Canada continues to be one episode ahead. Thursday's US episode is another lacklustre episode, even with Leslie in it.  We'll see if Friday or Monday's episode in Canada will be a repeat.
    • Like a lot of soaps, once relatives left, they kinda dropped off the face of the earth and out of conversations. I don't know why writers do that. If they just don't want to confuse viewers, or don't think it matters, or want the liberty kind of revise history to make their stories work. After Josh left in '84, he's barely mentioned. Even when Billy's railing against Kyle and refusing to accept him, it'd be the most natural thing in the world to say "Kyle's NOT by brother, JOSH is!" and I don't think he ever really says that.  The only writer I can recall who didn't do that is Doug Marland on ATWT.
    • IIRC, there is a line during this time period where Reva says something like Marah is her first-born child, which fans were not thrilled with.  Dylan makes a few appearances through the rest of the show (and a much later recast that isn't really worth talking about, with a face that is familiar to you). He will make one briefly during 1997, if you get that far.
