But great casting with Williams! She was always wasted on Melrose Place and they had no idea what to do with Rhonda. Doesn't Valerie appear pretty soon? Why do we get some casting announcements six-nine months prior (Nadia Bjorlin) but we had no idea about Williams until like a week or two before she pops up? I thought she appeared in October, maybe it's November?

Because she's black.

This makes no sense. The character should be in the 65+ age range, maybe a little below that just to give some room for casting. This actress is only in her early 50s and will be playing a character that was an adult back in the 70s. This is as nutty as the de-SOARS of Carly's son (who had been aged too much in the previous incarnation).

Reminds of the Jamie Luner recast of Liza on AMC. The age difference between her and MW was ridiculous and unbelievable

In soaps if you are over a certain number, it doesn't matter if you are still too young. It is crazy, but used to it now. At least they didn't hire someone who was 35 and went from someone who is over 50 if just barely.

I always liked her on Soul Food. I do agree she isn't the right casting, but considering the way the show treats black women, they could have cast Danai Gurira and she'd still get as much to do - nothing.
