That's how I feel. The thought of them returning and immediately getting back into all the "Shelle" sh*t exhausts me. They were a drain on the show for so long.

The way to do it would be to bring one back without the other, and FINALLY carve out separate lives for the characters. Shawn should have been around for Hope and Ciara the past few years.

I blame the actors as much as the writers. MM is a capable actress, but her Belle was lifeless and old beyond her years. BB had a face of stone. Both of them were just cold as ice, which could have worked with other characters, but Storms and Cook were just too damn bubbly for their characters to become rockfaces.

Preach!

I think Shawn and Belle SHOULD be on the canvas and SHOULD be viable, but I was so exhausted by them and their returns just do not thrill me. I just don't really care. I want to see them as individuals and established as their own characters.

For example, Carrie being stuck with Austin diminshed her character. It was nice seeing Austin and Carrie doing different things when they returned in 2011. They felt like characters again.

Pretty much. I found Madison in particular an odd choice for the role.

I do agree with those who say an individual return wouldn't be a bad idea. I wish they'd done that with Carrie in 2011, as I thought Christie fit in well with some dud material.

It is sort of curious why Belle and Shawn were ignored for so long. I mean, they were almost never mentioned in any context, either. It was so strange. I've always said DAYS has too many cooks in the kitchen. I'm also curious to know who decides what and why certain writers don't care for certain characters. I also feel like someone at DAYS considers the recasts of Belle and Shawn a failure even though Martha stans for the show to this day and would go back to the show in a heartbeat.

I think part of it is the anti-supercouple sentiment of recent years (minus the MarDar year). Shawn and Belle never existed as individuals, really, so while there was theoretical value to bringing back Jennifer solo and keeping Marlena, Hope, Kayla, and Adrienne busy even while their men got thrown under the bus (which is a topic for another time…), neither member of Shelle seemed to have that going for them. If they were smart, they could use a breakup to define them more -- maybe Belle is doing missionary work in Africa and wants to stay there, while Shawn wants to be back in Salem, and that breaks up.

    • This entire week has been really good!  First starting with Xander beating up Philip.  I too didn't expect to see Xander get so violent, by kicking Philip numerous times. And I didn't expect Philip to tell Xander that "Sarah knew," which lead to Wednesday's wonderful scenes with Xander/Sarah confronting each other.  I think those scenes were definitely Lindsay's best acting that she's done on the show.  I'm not really a huge fan of Sarah/Xander as a romantic couple - I don't hate them either.  But Lindsay and Paul do have a ton of acting chemistry and these scenes proved that.  I don't read spoilers so I had no idea Bo/Hope were going to be on today.  That was a nice surprise.  Same with Ciara showing up. I totally forgot Ciara has two kids with Ben. I liked how she talked about them and Zack.  I've always liked Victoria Konefal and thought she did a good job today. And yes, I didn't mind seeing Ciara's usual cleavage shot during those emotional scenes. Thank you, wardrobe department!  LOL Could the lead up to John's death have been better?  Sure.  But I didn't hate it.  I liked that John's final act was saving Bo's life.  And that full circle moment at the hospital with Marlena was poetic.  I was starting to get a bit teary eyed during today's episode.  Next week is going to be tough.

I don't know if John getting blown up to pieces would've been the right idea.

    •  Audra and Imani fighting over Nate could’ve been fun…if written by the BTG writers of course!
    • IKR. Silk Press Sheila has no chill.
    • Same. If he is going to recovered from burns this fast...he could at least be darker.
    • “That’s MISS Bitch” absolutely made me hollered. I needed that today!

    • I don't think she has at all. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't she say her mother passed?   Don't get me started. Damian should have been kept as head of Dumas and we question his motives. The story up til the Dumas plot twist was great, refreshing, and had twists and turns that the Dumas twist was just unnecessary and seem to be made so the story could be hijacked by everyone NOT Devon/Nate/Lily so they have something to do. Even now, that part of the story...and their involvement in it...feels like an afterthought.  Yep. Pretty much.
    • I feel Audra pretty much replaced Imani.
    • IKR!!! That's how I feel about his writing as well. There's such a realness to his writing that I really do like.  Same.    And I cannot wait to see who plays her.
