OMG. Does this mean they'll offer their shows in something more than Below-Standard-Definition-make-sure-you-don't-use-fullscreen-because-the-quality-will-get-even-worse? How exciting! (Also, YAY Twin Peaks!)

I didn't get to see it (and Vee mentioned it in the status bar), but apparently Kyle Mac was on James Corden last night, along with Betty White.

I wonder if they mentioned TP.

I know it would be stunt casting, but I can't help wishing they'd book Betty for a role. I think she'd be great - even one scene.

I saw it. They opened on TP and James Corden was very big on it. Kyle couldn't say much, obviously, but said he had only been told so much, and that they were expecting to shoot in the fall as previously reported. He also had a great opening gag in the teaser where they open his dressing room door and he's got a "damn fine" cup of coffee. I assume either this week or next he'll do what he told a journalist he'd be doing this month, sitting down with all of the scripts. He was also on to promote his voice work in the new Pixar movie, Inside Out.

Kyle talked more about his long relationship with David Lynch, starting on Dune right out of drama school. It was actually a great conversation, worth watching if it's on CBS's site, and he had a great routine with Betty White, who of course flirted heavily.

Betty also mentioned something I forgot, that her first real TV job was something that sounds like an impossible gauntlet today - hosting five and a half hours of live ad-libbed talk and commentary for a local LA show, Hollywood on Television. It sounds like hell on Earth.

Another interview with Kyle MacLachlan in which he talks about his career and reveals virtually nothing. Reiterates they plan to shoot in the fall.

Another exciting and utterly inconclusive interview with Kyle MacLachlan:

You start filming in September?

Yeah. Sort of the rough answer is fall–September, October. That’s when they anticipate beginning the process. That’s what I’ve heard to this point.

If you’ve read any of it can you share any initial impressions?

I have read a couple but I can’t share anything with you. I would love to, believe me. I can certainly say without hesitation, it’s going to be amazing.

Kyle is interviewed by Portlandia co-star Fred Armisen for Interview:

ARMISEN: What is next for you? Twin Peaks hasn't started yet, right?

MACLACHLAN: No we haven't started; from what Dave said we'll start in the fall. Apart from Portlandia, that's what's next on the horizon.

ARMISEN: You can't disclose anything, I understand, but where will you be? Does it seem like it will be California, West Coast, Canada?

MACLACHLAN: I know the first part of it, the plan is to start in the Seattle area, somewhere in Pacific Northwest. Probably similar to where we were when we were doing the pilot. After that, I've heard California, but that is as much as they've said to me. They've deliberately kept things very close to the vest.

ARMISEN: That's good. That's exciting. They're not giving away too much.

MACLACHLAN: I think so too. That's the whole thing about the show: all the mystery. It's fun to be able to maintain that as long as I can. It's a completely different world now from when we did the pilot, with social media and so much attention focused on the business.

ARMISEN: I haven't seen anything that seemed too secret. Someone is doing a good job in maintaining all of that, you know.

MACLACHLAN: Keeping it tight.

Meanwhile, Mädchen Amick and Peggy Lipton hang out.

Sherilyn Fenn seems perturbed, as she and the rest of the female cast allegedly have yet to receive 'official' offers from Showtime.

I have every reason to believe they will be back as they've almost all been specifically asked to come back by Lynch, so I'm hoping that this is just the production taking care of business slowly and methodically after the delay.

Mark Frost is now apparently claiming they are a) shooting in September but B) airing in 2017.

This may have to do with the extended episode order and demands thereof, or it may be a simple typo or Frost misspeaking. Either way, if it is an accurate quote (or if Frost didn't fumble his dates), it would have an amusing precedent: The original TP took place in 1989 (when the pilot was filmed), but aired on ABC in 1990-91.

The 2016 or 2017?" question is apparently still unresolved, but it seems either David Lynch's staff or the new series' art department has now asked anyone with original TP props, costuming or memorabilia to contact them on behalf of the new production.

You've probably already seen it, but this TVLine article says 2017. I don't think they'd post it so definitely if they weren't sure what Frost said.
