The SON baby

  • Members

Just a little thread to keep the people interested informed about the SON baby. :-) I'm 13 weeks along and due on April 8th. I had the new genetic testing (MaterniT21) done because I'm over 35. It's just a simple blood draw, that's less invasive than an amnio. Luckily, is well on that front.

You can also find out the gender of the baby with this new test. I'm having a boy. I'm a little nervous about that, since I guess being a woman I just feel like I have more of a sense of how to parent a girl, but I guess I'll figure it out.

Thanks to the people who've asked about how I'm feeling and who have wished us well. I really appreciate it. I'm feeling pretty good now that I'm out of the first trimester. Still a little tired, but I was lucky and didn't have terrible morning sickness. Mostly what I'm hoping for is things to stay uneventful for the next six months.

If anyone has name ideas, I'm open to suggestions. Right now, Elijah is in the running.

Regardless, it's still a good name, IMO. Most kids will have never heard of the store, anyway.

We could name him Hurtwitz Mintz after the store that is being advertised all over this screen...

Cheesy as it may be, I've always been obsessed with "Ethan Allen" as a first/middle name combo. I just love the sound of it.

My nephew's name is Easton Allen, which is similar. His dad named him after a baseball bat. closedeyes.jpg

Congratulations on the impending birth. Being a parent is one of my greatest joys in life.

I love the name Oliver, so my vote is Elijah Oliver. :)

I hope you have an easy pregnancy for the remainder of your time.

Thank you Becki. I was very lucky in my first trimester, when I hear about what some women go through, I know I had a cakewalk. Because of age, I'm worried about pre- eclampsia or gestational diabetes cropping up down the road. I'm trying not to let the fear of "what if" get the best of me though.

Julia I hope you are doing well....been a few weeks cool.png I trust Spencer Toups is doing just swell in the oven! ~;'-) #SONBaby

I'm doing well. Thank you so much for asking. My next appointment is tomorrow afternoon, so I'll definitely post an update afterwards. I'm at the 16 week mark, so with any luck everything is going the way it should. I'll admit, It's really hard to go a whole month between hearing the heartbeat . I've started to show in the last couple of weeks though, so I figure he must be growing ok.

I had my doctor's appointment today and all is well. Heard the heart beat, which is always a relief. They did a blood test to check for issues such as Spina Bifida. Should get the results back in a week or two. I've been good about getting my folic acid, so I'm hoping for the best. Next appointment is on November 20th for a detailed scan. Will post a pic, if I can get a good one.

Thank you both. :-)

My doctor called today and the test for neural tube defects came back negative. That was a huge relief. I'm 17 weeks now and it's three weeks until my next appointment, so no news will be good news until then.

You guys crack me up. He might not be named Soap Boy, but he'll definitely be watching some in his formative years.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone.
