Per TVLine.com, Shemar Moore is returning for a two-episode guest stint as Malcolm Winters on September 10 and 11.

Y&R could have already gone the rivalry route with Devon & Mason as rivals for Hilary or even done a love square with Devon, Hilary, Abby & Tyler given Abby & Devon's previous flirting & Tyler's history with Lily but instead Mason is gone & Tyler is in an afterthought pairing with the "lesser" Newman daughter while Devon chases a woman married to his father. If they Devon & Hilary's relationship survives her pairing with Neil she will cheat on him with a white male character.

Like who? Billy. So she can be treated like crap by him so the audience can see how special his rapist Chelsea is to him. If this were OLTL, I might agree. But this is #YR. It will be Nate. Or possibly Summer's little criminal husband. The actor is part native american.

They screwed mason over for Hilary's little redemption story with Devon and the fraud.

Tyler was never going back into lily's orbit.

You are talking of things that were over and done with before the writers even to go with Devon and Hilary as a couple.which was only a few months ago after her pairing with Neil flopped.

Shemar. Finally some hotness. I hope the ratings go up; it might trigger more guest stints from him.

I am 99% certain that TPTB are hoping Shemar Moore can bring back some of those eyeballs that they have lost over the years with the treatment of their black cast. They think this story they have going now is a hit and they are utilizing them better. They are hoping that the viewers come for Shemar but stay for the Winters story.

Shemar Moore is just an attempt by TPTB to try to bring viewers back. Someone extremely high up at CBS had to work out this deal.

JFP would never have done this. Apparently the ratings downward spiral caused someone upstairs to finally take notice. Time to cut some dead weight!

I'm glad they are undoing that mess of a recast with Eddie Winslow but why the return? I don't want Malcolm back for two episodes. I want him back full-time!

They are on more than 3 times a month nowadays. And I think that's the point they want those that left to see.

You are right. THIS CANVAS DOES NOT NEED PHYLLIS! Excuse my yelling.

And just looking at how obsessive they are to recast Billy, Adam and Phyllis, yet three proven Y&R stars they haven't even attempted to recast or use? Please. Olivia doesn't need a recast because Tonya is willing, Drucilla CAN'T be recast (but if she were white they would've tried by now) and Malcolm could be EASILY recast with all of the out of work STRONG black actors out there. There is no excuse except the truth that we all know.

I'm a huge Shemar fan, and glad to see him returning for a couple of days, but don't feel he's irreplaceable as recast....they just have to put some work into it. Darius McCrary by no means had the Malcolm flavor whatsoever, so that was clearly a miscast.

While I loved VR's Drucilla, I feel even she can be recast. This was also an important character, and it makes no sense they haven't at least tried to recast the role since they don't want VR back.

Now I didn't say it would be successful. Lol. But they would try if she were a white character as important to canvas as Dru.

But I will say this. Black people who watch this show are their own worst enemy. They complain incessantly about the state of the Winters family but refuse to accept recasts for the MUCH NEEDED characters when actors have moved on or "burned bridges". I see some of the same folks (not you or anyone here) so excited about a GT as Phyllis because they just love her but refuse a recast Dru. Refuse to even consider it. Then lamblast KSJ for the Winters lack of story and unintetesting stories. Well what do people expect. He has no cast to play off. No rival, no real long term love interest, and two kids. One TPTB didn't even see as a full character and the other played by Chrystal "I am not black" Khalil. I repeat, what do people expect. Holding onto VR and SM is just as silly as folks holding on to BM and MM. Move on for the betterment of the show!

Touche'! IMO, No one is above being recast. It clearly helps these stories move along when the original actor is no longer available.

It's not like they haven't try to recast Dru before. VR is a fighter, they recast her isn't going to seat well with me. & is this bitch CK going to pick who she wants to play Dru. Dru Baber Winters is now being played by Jennifer Beals.

The way the soap press is now, if the network and their sources tell them to support a Dru recast, they will, not matter how wrong she is or how basic her portrayal is. Victoria Rowell is a large part of why Dru was successful which is why it's an impossible role to recast. She was so nuanced that I just can't see it being done. I know they did it twice before but those were both temp recasts. I've always wanted to see them, particularly Kent King as Dru. She's a good actress, but that is an obvious miscast.

I can't imagine anyone else playing Dru and it being successful. Take the time to build a new character up instead. But I am not that big a fan of recasting an extremely popular role.

Sometimes it's talent and charisma, like Rowell has so much of, especially as Dru. Sometimes it's mostly charisma. Like Hope, on Days. I can't imagine anyone else being a successful Hope but Alfonso. She just brings something special to the part.

What kind of story or impact can he have in two days?
