If he comes back (and if they don't re-hire Matt Ashford), why don't they just pair him up again with Missy Reeves? No one seems to like her with Daniel, and if MA stays off the canvas, I think the only other guy they'd really accept Jennifer with would be Frankie. JMHO.

I know it belongs to another thread but have Hope and Jenn ever fought over the same guy? Cuz i wouldnt mind Liam being in the middle of a Horton cousins war :)

I don't think they ever have because the only man Hope has ever really been in love with is Bo, and Jenn had Frankie, Jack and now Daniel. But it kind of would be fun to play that kind of story and unveil a new dynamic in the cousins' close relationship. Plus, since it doesn't seem like Peter Reckell will be back any time soon, the time to play it would be now.

Heather Tom was the best Kelly Cramer. She made that role her own and totally rehabilitated the character. She even was able to keep me watching after she fucked her stepson in a collapsing church.

I think i probably gave up on Passions (not soon enough but better late than never i guess) when they recast the role of Chad with underwear model Charles Divine (not sure of the name of the actor although i always suspected he had done porn).

I liked Donn Swabby who at least tried to make BK a better actress.

The role of Laurel was recast? I thought that Felicity LaFortune (i hope i have the name right if not sorry) was the only one who played her

Yep. I believe the original Laurel was a tall blonde who was gorgeous but lacked a lot of acting skill. She was recast fairly quickly, and they morphed Laurel from bad girl to single mom with an abusive ex and an autistic daughter who was embezzling funds to keep her kid in a special school. I actually liked her with Trevor, and I thought it was a shame they killed her off to pave the way for Robin Mattson's Janet to step in, although by the time she was killed by a stray bullet, Laurel didn't really have much of a story.

The three AMC recasts that really fell flat to me were the recasts of Natalie, Babe, and Dimitri.

Yes, Natalie had been dumbed down and turned into a milder, nicer, sweeter version of her old self by the time she married Trevor, but Melody Anderson as Natalie took that over the top into a level of blandness that was just terrible. The same goes for Amanda Baker as the recast Babe. Prior to the recast, I put Babe in the same category I did Greenlee: a character who annoys me but is salvaged by an actress who has a certain spark to her, a twinkle in her eye, that makes her quite watchable. Alexa Havins owned that role, and she did a great job with it. The recast took every bit of fire and spark out of Babe and turned her into a bland blonde who was indistinguishable from a sea of other bland, blonde characters on TV.

It's unfortunate that AMC chose to recast Dimitri, but I can see their POV given Michael Nader's drug problems. Still, I think it would have worked better if they'd escorted Dimitri and Alex off the canvas together when Michael Nader was fired and then let Finola Hughes keep playing Anna. The recast was a nice enough looking guy but he didn't have that same watchable quality that MN did. Admittedly, MN had been playing Dimitri a bit loose and over the top for a while thanks to whatever he was on, but the recast (whose name I can't even remember) just didn't have that same spark of chemistry that MN had with a lot of the cast. Perhaps it would have worked better if they'd found a bigger name to play the part, someone who had a better onscreen presence and a fan following.

I have to agree. Marj was pretty incredible as Alex, especially during her first stint. Alex then was a multi-faceted character who could be vulnerable, ruthless, compassionate, loving, passionate. The character devolved into camp in the 2000s due to the weak writing.

Marj was always best when they were writing Alex for someone else. When Marj first came to GL they were still really writing for Bev..so Marj brought it down and did some quiet, introspective things..(the great thing about Bev's Alex was when she made a power grab or destroyed someone it was to protect her family or loved ones...and she made Alex seem to be quietly resolute about it then gleefully riding a broom like Marj did.) I remember a scene where she stopped that Bess lady in a wheelchair who was invovled in the court battle for Spaulding and threatened her, ("If you think my brother or my father was worse then me, think again...") that was, while not Bev Alex was close while not mimicking. But that soon went to shreds even before the 2000's (remember her moaning orgasimacally on top of her limo while Roger pretended to suck snake poison out of her leg..and please don't ask what that was all about.) She was also good as Alex when they were still writing for Joan Collins (sorry, she was a better Alex..threatening while being soft, she was as close to Bev's Alex as you can get) but soon she was screaming in a police station and throwing chairs (something Alex would NEVER do..) It wasnt Marj's fault, it was the writing but Bev could over ride the crappy writing and give it somehting extra while Marj played what was on the page. Suprisingly I thought the best material Marj got was withe B & E after she came back..there is a scene, over the top thought it was with FauxAnnie in the attic where she tries to threaten Alex and Alex stomps on her. Marj was great in that. The biggest problem I had with her Alex is that she really didn't have a maternal feel about her like Bev and even Collins did when working with the younger cast. Even when Alex was at odds with somone younger (namely Blake and India) Bev always seemed to pull a little back then if she would somone her closer to her age....)(I think that is why the Alex and India worked so well first time..Alex thought of her as a daugther figure who betrayed her (later the same with Mindy) and India "wanted," to love Alex but couldnt help hating her.

I do think that Marj would have worked best as a woman who married into Spaulding money, or as a Lewis...someone more earthy giving Alan and Alex a pain in the ass who could sometimes out wile them.

Wasnt it anthony addabo (he went on to play a whack job on BB who was obsessed with Lauren or something)

How about Greg Vaughan to Jonanthon Jackson? Greg is a tall jock-looking guy and Jonanthon is small and super skinny.

Going from JJ to GV wasnt much of a stretch since JY made the transition easier imho. JY was terribly miscast but it soften the blow of having GV taking over i think. But going from GV back to JJ was indeed jarring at best. Lucky had far outgrown JJ by the time he came back.

I would say tha the only good thing with JJ's return was his chemistry with KS which of course the former regimess totally wasted away
