Members Faulkner
But, to be fair, aren’t they usually? (Not that Jussie is credible but...)
Members marceline
Exactly. The Chicago PD *are* racist manipulators. Jussie still arranged a fake hate crime but I guess he wasn't stupid enough to pay with a check. That's something I guess.
Members Vee
I mean, I never assumed he signed the check 'fake hate crime' to begin with so it's entirely possible he still paid with the check but masked its intent.

Members Juliajms
A few days ago, I realized these guys didn't do it for the money in any case. The flew back to Nigeria after the crime, which would have about negated any profit motive. They must have done it because Jussie was their friend and he asked them to.
Members ReddFoxx
What is in the check memo isn't vindication for him, so that's a dumb line of defense. He could have put groceries in there and the police would have drawn the same conclusion because they are going off of testimony.
Members Vee
IMO it's all about muddying the waters as much as possible so he can potentially get off on reasonable doubt should it go to trial. But I never thought he'd do time to begin with.

Members Faulkner
Interesting piece on Jussie’s career pressures and depression: Ellen Page’s response to the Jussie revelations:
Members Vee
That THR piece is fairly decent but still a bit more sympathetic to him than I can be.

Members Juliajms
What's crazy about that article is when RR says this case has set race relations back decades. Really, we are going to put that on this case? I can't accept that thinking with all of the very real hate crimes going on all around us. This case sets back race relations if hateful people use it to do so. That's all. It proves nothing.
