I thought those were some powerful scenes between Andre and Lucious towards the end of tonight's episode. He really did lay into Andre verbally. I think he's more angry with Andre plotting behind his back than he was with Jamal coming out. He at least believes Jamal loves the family/music, and he doesn't really feel that way about Andre.

It was powerful but it made a lot of sense. Wasn't Lucious' family once upon a time part of Nation of Islam? It would make sense why he is totally against interracial marriage. I also think that he chewed into Andre b/c Andre seems to be that black male that yearns for white acceptance in everything that he does, so that would piss Lucious off.

This show is just too perfect!

I hope their hiatus isn't long. I need this show to come back in the summer but I bet it'll be coming back in the fall.

I remember Cookie saying something like the Nation had killed Lucious's father. I wonder what the whole story is behind that.

I could see how he could have the feelings he does regarding Andre, including the reasons you mentioned. Lucious seems to be the type of man that is really set in his ways, and he will say whatever he really feels, right or wrong.I think that Lucious has had those feelings bottled up for a while regarding Andre/Rhonda and Andre in general. I think that he he just never really said anything about it before, but now that he realized Andre has plotted against him, he let those feeling come to the surface.

Even though this is a soap, and it's going to have it's share of plotting and scheming, I am actually am glad that Lucious is sharp enough that he could sense what Andre was up to. I think that him being sharp like that helps strengthen his position as the Patriarch on this show.

laugh.pnglaugh.png You crack me up. I actually did think Rhonda had it in her, but I'm sure glad we didn't have to watch.

One thing I wonder is why Cookie got 30 years in what looked like maximum security. That seems awfully harsh just for selling drugs. Not that I don't take drug dealing seriously, but that's basically life in prison.

    • I know there was one brief scene in the summer of 1989 where Lillian did mention Calla.. but in relation to her past relationship to Ross and it was to Roger while he was a patient at Cedars.  I think he was trying to pump her for information on Ross.. and for some reason, Calla's name came up.   I could see perhaps Beth mentioning that her mother Lillian was visiting Calla.. but not exactly giving any sort of details as to the going ons in Calla's life off screen.

    • They're neither great nor terrible AFAIK, but it is more a question of the streaming numbers in this day and age vs. actual TV airings. The Chibnall era reminded me much more of the crisis years, but I do think it's a very real possibility now as well due to the streaming bubble collapse affecting the show and its prospects.
    • ANYTHING to get her off the screen..she COULD have been interesting if she and Van had a few face offs..(there was a mild one of her going back to work...but I wanted something meatier "Bitch, I am Vanessa Chamberlain and I don't take advice from someone who followed the..career path you did!" I did like Alex's outright disdain for her.
    • Thanks @Vee for the commentary.    I haven’t even watched this season yet after  I couldn’t get past the couple episodes last season…like it was too Disneyified for my taste, although I did think it was a least better than the Chibnall era (but so is a lot of things). I’ll probably go back and binge it now. Hoping this season ends on a high note. I did read the ratings are terrible. As it stands I’m beginning to feel like what long time DW fans felt with S26 in 1989.
    • Yes, they are all on contract. Next.
    • I also never understood Alex's friendship with Sonni or keeping the secret of Marah's paternity.  Not exactly heartbroken about Ms. Sally being ushered to the Hereafter.

I'm sorry but I'm a glutton for punishment. Would love to see this woman OWNING the canvas. Telling off Leslie who tells her she's the head b!tch.
    • And in case anyone is confused; Rusty was hired by HB to work undercover and infiltrate some gang sabotaging Lewis.
