I think the Kelly character definitely evolved in large part due to CW. Kelly went from a fatal attraction wacko to someone who was hurt and reaching out but prone to repeating self destructive patterns.

Once CM gets onboard, I definitely see some re-writing in that character's future. I also see some chem testing with Jack. I'm not sure and I cannot even guess how many scenes she will have with DT but as someone mentioned the age difference is not that drastic and DT continues to have scenes with AH, so there's that.

For me, the wildcard is how Kelly and Stitch will now relate with CM in the role. The actor who plays Stitch has shown chemistry with just about everyone he's had scenes with so I'd be surprised if he didn't have it with CM as well.

It sounds like a cop out, I know, but I'm not going to pass judgement yet. I'm taking a 'wait & see' approach. CM's Roseanna Cabot grew on me so it wouldn't surprise me if such a process has to occur again.

That's the thing i never saw cady as Rosanna when I heard the recast. She was good old southern Dixie Cooney. She came on was only supposed to be short term and she was fabulous with hunt block. What was great was seeing cady to a complete departure from Dixie and thrive and stayed as Rosanna for three good years before she left and managed to win her Emmy in 2004. Cady can play different I really would love to see her take on Kelly.

She may have played Dixie longer and it may be her iconic soap role, but that first stint on ATWT as Rosanna was Cady at her best and the best work she's ever done, IMO. So many actors having played a role for so long would've fallen into some very bad habits and would've had a hard time breaking free of the role itself, that wasn't the case for Cady. As I said before, she was the only ABC actor that really thrived on a CBS soap in the 00's, even if the writing wasn't always the best.

IDK that 'diva' is the right word, but all of the rumors I heard were that Cady was unhappy with her character on AMC and wanted Dixie to have more of an edge to her and be less of the 'good girl.' Understandable, I suppose, but she seemed to have a hard time grasping that the character was popular for being a good girl, paired with Tad. Dixie wasn't meant to be edgy, and no amount of weird haircuts from Cady in the 90s was going to make Dixie edgy. In addition to being unhappy with Dixie after a while, I've heard that she latched onto anyone she perceived as being THE hot leading man (whether that was MEK, Vincent Irizarry, or Thorsten Kaye), and that she pestered the writers and producers to be paired with those men on-screen. MEK has said that she pursued him off screen in the 80s but he rebuffed her because of her age. I've followed her on social media, and I've read her blog, and she comes across as a bit sanctimonious at times, and she's been downright snarky/bitchy about some former colleagues but tries to mask it with humor. If I were one of her new coworkers, I'd not be thrilled about the prospect of being skewered in one of her Suzy F*cking Homemaker videos.

I never saw her on ATWT, so I can't speak to that, but personally, I thought Dixie was massively shrill, hysterical, hypocritical, and hard to watch. In watching some of Cady's work, I have to wonder if she intended for Dixie to be shrill, or if she was attempting to be campy, and it just didn't work for her.
