I don't think I have ever heard any one of these songs. I'll Be There I know what it is because it was a remake, but these number ones were number one where? We hear top hits, and going back however many years from "Every Breath You Take" in 1982 all the way to "uptown funk" this year and going back to the Beatles and Elvis and "I Will Survive" and so many others, when a song was a hit everybody heard it to the point you couldn't avoid it. "Livin La Vida Loca" "I Want It That Way" "Thriller"...real hits blasting from every car, in every store, on every station.

I googled "Vision of Love" and can safely say I have never heard that song before in my life.

I've never heard any one of those songs in my life. Are you saying they were as pervasive as "Material Girl" or "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" or "The Real Slim Shady" or "Bye, Bye, Bye"? Was it really as well known as even "That Don't Impress Me Much", "I'm Sexy And I Know It" or any other mega hits? I could rattle them out all day long. Were they as popular as "Gangsta's Paradise" or "You Light Up My Life?" I just don't see how in the pantheon of number ones this is up there in popularity with "Blurred Lines" or even "Somebody That I Used To Know" which I don't even think went top 10 but managed to get out there anyway.

They aren't obscure, but a lot of them haven't stood the test of time and don't incur much recurrent airplay. Not to mention, Tommy Mottola bought a great deal of her "hits" at one point...

Who honestly remembers I Don't Wanna Cry, Thank God I Found You, Don't Forget About Us, and Touch My Body these days?

I remember Touch My Body right away but had to think about the others. You're right, Mariah definitely had a stellar career but she's not a star whose hits have really stayed all that relevant. Many of her number ones are hardly played, even on oldies stations. That's just how it is for some artists. And I'm sure she knows that, which is why she's trying (and failing) so hard to be relevant again.

18 #1s on the Billboard Hot 100, the most of any female solo artist. Rounding out the top 5 female solo artist rankings are Rihanna (13), Madonna (12), Whitney Houston (11), and Janet Jackson (10).

Among all artists, The Beatles are 1st overall with 20 #1s on the Billboard Hot 100, and Elvis Presley and Mariah Carey are tied for 2nd with 18 #1s each. Rounding out the top 5 overall are Michael Jackson and Rihanna with 13 #1s each.

If nothing else, "All I Want For Christmas Is You" will stand as one of the modern Christmas classics. Was it a number one hit? No, but even 20 years later, people still remember it, because new Christmas songs don't become instant classics very often. This is one that did, and I'll admit that I love it. :)

    • I've seen Jason interact with Mitch and annoy him. That's as far as I recall. I didn't even have a slight idea that Evan had a vendetta against Rachel... That came as a surprise to me. I thought Evan was Iris's dog and that's it. Now he's definitely more interesting.
    • Thanks for these. I can't recall -- did Evan's vendetta have any position on Mitch, or was it all about Rachel? @Maxim have you seen any Frames intreracting with Mitch in any way?
    • Thank you for the tag! It's always a pleasure to see these little pearls of memories.
    • Uh-oh. Today just might’ve been the first Paula/Jeanne stinker. I have a feeling whose fault that might be though. So, Doug III is getting a job at the Pub?  It’s good to see him interact with other characters. I enjoyed his scenes with Roman, even though the talk of Frankie and Max seemed a little random. And it also could be really interesting now that Tate knows. Days really need to start pushing their rivalry again. We need some follow up from the punch. Tying it all to Holly, to Sophia’s pregnancy, to the guys that Doug III owes money to could be good.  But yeah, wayyy too much Leo again in today’s episode. Seriously, has anything changed with this nothing character? I thought it was all Ron’s fault, but maybe Greg Rikaart is (partially) responsible for Leo being so insufferable.  And yeah seriously, Rafe needs to throw all of these people out of his house. Including Gabi

But I do wonder who’s the mysterious voice that Gabi overheard with EJ on the night he was shot. Based on yesterday’s episode, I have a suspicion.
    • Add me to the group of people who think that Brandon has improved. He has. There's no doubt about it. Especially compared to the beginning. And he's improving in a way that... it makes me think that he realizes what the issues are and is addressing them. Of course, he's no master of acting at this point... but I don't cringe as much as I did. And I've seen people in Bold... I won't even have to name names, because everyone knows who they are... who are becoming even worse than what they were offering in the first place. So... I'm happy that in BTG... people are actually blossoming and improving. It surely means that the atmosphere is creative and nurturing talent.  BUT and it's a big butt... his relationship with his husband is still so lacking and ghastly. I am craving to see more action from these guys. I want to see Smitty's character. If he has any.
    • Thank you. You guys come to the rescue again. I'll take a look later.   Thank you for the info!!! Now I find myself less confused. You and @DRW50 are amazing.
    • I know Passions used this trope with Ethan and Sam to drag out the paternity, but GH seems to speed through certain stories while dragging others.
    • For any other soap, I think I’d agree, but GH, I don’t know

    • Agreed, that there was some strange choices in the episode, especially at the end, but overall, that was some great drama that opens up the potential for so much future storyline. Kat vs. Eva having the most potential, especially over Tomas. I have mixed feelings about Martin/BC though. I thought he did pretty well in scenes with Smitty/MM, but the scenes of him confronting Leslie and of him throwing the books were bad lol she acted circles around him.  It’s similar to what Harding Lemay said about George Reinholt at AW; he could be brilliant in one scene, but then mediocre in the next.
