Members Soapsuds
Nice to see ATWT back in the top 5. AW free falling. Actually I didn't need a hot hunk shirtless because the soaps were so good back in the day. My first gay awakening was Grant Aleksander on GL back in 1983. Seeing guys shirtless onscreen was just gravy considering how great the storylines were. Edited June 19, 2023 by Soapsuds
Members Broderick
John Conboy was always convinced if a storyline wasn't working very well, or if a scene dragged a bit, someone needed to deliver their lines nekkid.
Members JoeCool
6/9, 6/16, 6/23: ABC has top 3 spots. General Hospital a strong number 1. All My Children and One Life to Live strong. Y&R strong. As the World Turns and AW slipping.
Members AbcNbc247
Looking forward to see how AW fared in July, with that being the last month of 90 minute episodes and the beginning of all the Texas storylines.

Members Soapsuds
ATWT and GL changed time periods during this time. SFT dropped during that week. An episode from SFT from the week before. Members JoeCool
Strong GH at Number 1. AMC at Number 2. OLTL at Number 3. ABC moves higher.
Members AbcNbc247
So, it appears that fans of AW were not fans of the Texas crew Please register in order to view this content

Members Soapsuds
AW ratings were horrendous. They are free falling.
Members teplin
The drop was well deserved, unfortunately. Just a horrible time for the show.
Members MichaelGL
It was the price of shows like AW, SB, and GL had to pay for Paul Rauch's ego. Edited June 20, 2023 by MichaelGL
Members watson71
During July 1980, AW was introducing all the characters and the setting kept jumping between Bay City and Houston. So if a new viewer tuned in to the debut of Texas on August 4th, it was like following a show already in progress since the Texas storylines were introduced on AW in July. Would be difficult for a new viewer to follow.
