Members Soapsuds
Judi Evans and Colleen Zenk are on it. Judi says P&G just wanted out of the soap business. And why is Michael Muphney in it??...ugh....
Members Jonathan
Hopefully. Doesn't she have a "movie career" that she's try to jumpstart?
Members AllMyDaysatGH
Yeah bro that's why she's juggling damn near 5 projects at once including 2 features right now. LOOK OUT!
Members CBRVA83
What was the first web based soap back in the 90's if "Venice" wasn't really the first web soap?
Members quartermainefan
Not a very informative special. To really get into it they would have had to interview people like Frons and get the why, not just the what. Judi Evans said P&G wanted out, that would have been the time to cut away to someone at P&G to explain why and why the refusal to sell AW to ABC. Members Steve
It was great to hear the actors' viewpoints, but overall I was disappointed. I wish they'd addressed how the soaps themselves stopped being multigenerational and character driven as they chased after younger viewers. Members chicklitsandfantasies
Not sure but it definitely wasn't Venice because NBC had the short lived Coastal Dreams a couple of years before Venice
Members Jonathan
The special told us things that we already knew, but it was nice to hear the actors' POV.
Members reallyhateskateonlost
If I remember correctly, the OJ car chase was on a Friday night during a basketball game? The trial went on for weeks during the day and was the beginning of the end of soaps.
Members ChitHappens
I find this to be true only because it gave JER the platform to showcase his hocus pocus. Soaps never recovered! Once Marlena was possessed, that opened the door to Trassions. Days was unfortunately excelling at the time of OJ and his trial.
Members chicklitsandfantasies
I heard they got the first AA actor on soaps wrong too. Did they forget to fact check before this special?
Members quartermainefan
They did mention that in passing when they were dicussing Gloria Monty. Since this led to soaps greatest period of popularity I don't know what they could have said about it.
Members Jonathan
Yeah it was a Friday. It was also the night of David Hasselhoff's pay-per-view concert which turned out to be a bust because everyone was watching OJ instead.
