I don't think it's that these shows are dropping (The Talk, The Chew, The View still seem to be doing OK, although I think The View has dropped a lot in recent years), but that soaps have gotten some viewers back. Even then, the gains for soaps haven't been that strong, so the article feels somewhat hollow to me. I did get a good laugh that they credited GH's ratings rebound to the vets that Ron has little time or patience for, not his [!@#$%^&*]-ass writing. And I got an even bigger laugh that they used a photo of two people who are no longer on soaps. That says it all for how much attention the industry pays to this genre. I LOVE both SF and LAD, yet they are TWO actresses who are NOT on daytime anymore. From a show whose ratings have improved quite a lot since they departed.
