Members TeamEric
Thanks, Toups. Looks to me FV/RC finally managed to post some real demo gains along with their viewership spikes. In comparison, January actually averaged more viewers than October (so far) but averaged 79,000 less 18-49 viewers. Over the last 11 weeks, except for 1 week, GH has gained viewers each week for a net +380,000. GH also posted a net gain of +164,000 18-49 viewers during that same period. Here's the monthly averages for GH in 2013:Jan 2013 2,834,200 653,600Feb 2013 2,777,500 631,250Mar 2013 2,612,750 611,500Apr 2013 2,668,200 637,800 - 50th anniv/Nurses BallMay 2013 2,550,750 617,750Jun 2013 2,500,000 555,750Jul 2013 2,455,600 588,800Aug 2013 2,573,500 616,500 - 11 week surge in viewership begins 8/5Sep 2013 2,776,500 703,250Oct 2013 2,781,667 732,667* - Robin return story kicks off
Members marceline
Internet soap fans don't have that much pull. Even if everyone of them tuned out the other 90% of the audience would still watch.
Members edgeofnik
Historically, it seems that Jan/Feb are higher months for soaps for a couple of reasons: 1) lots of holidays - end of NY's, MLK, President's Day, etc.; 2) colder weather keeps people in. For GH to be approaching those levels in October is excellent. I'm just glad all soaps are doing well. I'm really wondering if the paring down of shows actually has worked out for best. For example, historically there were three soaps on at 2/1 (ATWT, DAYS and OLTL), now there are two (depending on market). Y&R P.2 & B&B no longer have AMC in most of country.
