Y&R Casting New Role

By SOD • Posted: Sep 10, 2013

Y&R will soon be expanding the Abbott family by introducing a never-before-heard-of cousin named Andrew Abbott. The show is actively searching for "a strong leading man" in his "mid to late 30s" to play the contract role of the "handsome and educated" Andrew. The character is also described as "very driven and ambitious." Yep, sounds like an Abbott to us!

Honestly, I don't care if we ever see Keemo again. The actor was a Dbag and that ruined the character. The whole story was maligned from the beginning - a cheap plot device to: 1) give Jack an adult son and 2) to somehow have a social commentary. The writing and acting failed miserably on both fronts. (Unlike ATWT, when they brought Lien, which was helped by good writing and an excellent actress Mign-Na.)

Did John Abbott have any siblings??

Maybe he is a second Cousin?? Maybe John's father had a brother around his age that has a younger kid. Never saw the show but I am willing to give it a chance.

Why is it that I remember this totally different and loved Keemo.

I agree that the first Keemo was pretty forgettable. I wouldn't be opposed to recasting with a good actor though. I actually think it will happen. The AA characters are getting more screen time under this newest regime, so it seems possible to me that they will bring Keemo back. There was a mention only a few weeks ago.

If they were recasting Keemo why would they hide it by saying they are casting an Abbott cousin? That makes no sense which is why I'm sure they're casting a cousin. That an the casting call is for a white male

I can see that much, so that the casting call doesn't spoil the character's return. Making him white? Just no!

If they didnt want to spoil a return they wouldn't have the word Abbott in the casting call at all.
