August 1, 201312 yr Member The shows are already a shell of their former selves. Casts are fine with a rotation thing in storylines. PP is going to cut themselves out of 2 fine shows. I wish the expression "shell of their former self" had never been invented.
August 1, 201312 yr Member Oh Iforgot about that--but yeah, I assumed it was for the second cycle... Yeah that's why I'm confused by this. There was a picture of Susan Haskell winning her Emmy on the Instagram a few weeks ago and other than showing famous people that have been on the show for the anniversary celebration, they haven't shown ex-castmembers on their images in a while so I thought something might be up with her, especially cause we know they approached her in the past about coming back. August 1, 201312 yr Member I'm really looking forward to the 437 page "AMC/OLTL Hiatus" thread. This is so funny. The hiatus after the hiatus. and the beat goes on and on and on.

August 1, 201312 yr Member Once again, I don't think they are as transparent as they need to be. This should be expected, but a time frame of when to expect the shows should ALSO be announced. For me personally, I think it would be best if they held off for 3+ months so they could return with more episodes per-week, which would help things like the OWN airings and also give them time to properly stockpile episodes. At the very least they should've announced the next filming dates for both shows so we know they're picking up production in August. By them leaving that out, it leaves me to wonder if maybe things have been pushed back once again. Hopefully some good comes of this downtime. They should release a DVD box-set as well. There is no excuse since there aren't that many episodes. It's another easy stream of revenue. You may be right about stockpiling more episodes because they don't have alot "in the can" right now as it is and OWN may expect better, maybe? Fans want more episodes and not less. Another push back going on???
August 1, 201312 yr Member I have zero doubt that Victor is the climactic return. Is Victor a classic character? Was it Pepperman or Smith that said to look out for mentions of past characters as a clue? Of course they've been talking about Victor the whole time so maybe it is him. Which would be ridiculous.
August 1, 201312 yr Member Well, we knew they'd been planning this - they sent out surveys preparing for a new release schedule. Am I thrilled? No. But I can understand it.
August 1, 201312 yr Member That is because I am not talking audio wise and nobody can hear you either.

Well in the case of this press release--VIctor could fit into "fan favorite" and at least wrap up some of this story...The classic character I still thought was in reference to someone they wanted for the next batch.
August 1, 201312 yr Member Well, looking at the FaceBook site and some very unhappy campers over there. Questions, questions. Well, looking at the FaceBook site and some very unhappy campers over there. Questions, questions.
August 1, 201312 yr Member The answers are simple (if aggravating) - they have been prepping a new release schedule and reconsidering a new production/release model for some time. There's also a lot of murmurings around about who might pick them up in future. I knew it was coming very soon, but I'm mildly surprised it's coming this fast. This break gives them room to breathe in terms of production, for both shows. AMC is taping this month, OLTL early next. If they'd continued non-stop they would've been cutting it very close to the point of exhaustion. I know that some online love to mock every break from the same old daytime norm that these shows take, but I'd rather they keep experimenting with their new forms to get it right and keep these shows financially viable for them than try to emulate the network scheduling and die. My bet is late September/early October for a return. And likely release in 20-40 episodes blocks after that. Hopefully 40. I don't think 20 is enough. Edited August 1, 201312 yr by Vee
August 1, 201312 yr Member Well, looking at the FaceBook site and some very unhappy campers over there. Questions, questions. PP reassured longtime fans who are used to year around shows (4-5 episodes per week) that they recognize the importance of keeping them on board while encouraging new viewers to the show too. Fans want more, not less. If fans want less, then they don't want a show.
