Melissa Archer on the switch:

In order to ensure longevity of this show, it has to be more mainstream…similar to prime time.

I think I read somewhere, not soap specific though, that ad rates are usually highest for streaming in the first 1-3 days depending on the show and then go down significantly after that. If that's the case, I can definitely see why PP would not be thrilled with weekend marathoning.

That makes sense to me as well.

You... you... KOOL AID DRINKING, BRAINWASHED CULT MEMBER, you!

The funny thing is, when they say that we say PP sh!ts perfect Roy G. Biv rainbows, they're knowingly being hyperbolic. When we say that they are calling people Kool Aid drinking cult members, we're citing actual posts lol

I'm tired of this victim sh!t. Nobody is stopping anyone from expressing negative opinions about PP. Plenty have done that and aren't whining about being shut down by anyone. The problem here is that [bitchy/petulant/childish/immature/junior high/whatever]SOMMMMME PEOPLE[/lol] have a habit of traipsing into threads, making baseless comments about "cults" and "Kool Aid" and then getting all up in arms whenever someone calls attention to your status as a messy ho. Know WHY people are coming for you because you climb dat ass up on the cross.

Is it weird that I'm actually drinking Kool-Aid while reading these posts?

Can someone explain to me exactly why PP cares how often we watch as long as we watch every episode?

I think people have overblown the "binge viewing" part of the letter. It's not so much binge viewing that they're worried about; it's the fact that people are holding off on watching the episodes on a day-to-day basis and choosing to watch them all later. They're afraid that people will just not watch later, which, really, is something they should address by way of storylines in order to ensure people will always want to tune in.

For many viewers, though, watching more on a day-to-day basis is simply not feasible no matter HOW good the writing.

100% correct, as is the case for me during the school year. To that end, any "backlash" should be focused squarely on that, as that is the reason they gave us for the change. We must let them know that, despite not watching every single day, we are indeed committed to watching long-term (provided that we still WANT to watch the shows long-term).

Thanks for the answer, AMS. That makes sense.

Sidenote: My father and I always joke about the fact that "The Twins" look just like my uncle. The Whispers sang my theme song as a child "Rock Steady" and I used to be like "Daddy, those guys look like Uncle David!"

Well, I know why Vee and I aren't getting along, and why Soapsuds and I aren't getting along, but you'll have to refresh my memory as to why we have fallen out.

Seriously, R, where is that remark coming from? If you think I'm mocking those who still support AMC & OLTL, remember: I'm in their corner (even if the shows aren't exactly to my taste). wink.png

It's a joke... KEEP CALM!

There you have it.

We have 150 AMC/OLTL threads and each one I opened has the same posts from the same people. A red keep calm sign and some retweets. Is this the new trend? Posting the same thing all over the forum? What's the point?

I guess you don't count as someones who loves soaps these days unless you stalk everybody who works at the production company on Twitter and refuse to be sceptical about anything. People who are pretending to be sceptical are haters. They want all soaps to be cancelled. The PP cafeteria lady told me so when I accidentally ran into her outside her house last night. She promised to follow me on Twitter wub.png She also promised to talk to Jeff about me wub.pngwub.png

PS: Loving the Agnes soaps and saving money for a PP tattoo will never be the same. I am sure Ellen Wheeler is somewhere thinking that she would be considered the Real Soap Savior today if she had taken the time to answer some annoying tweets from some obsessive cult audience members.

I am sorry for saying this but this thread is way to long!! Ideally I was hoping most people would accept 2 episodes are better than what THE DOCTORS, AS THE WORLD TURNS, ANOTHER WORLD, GUIDING LIGHT, THE EDGE OF NIGHT, SEARCH FOR TOMORROW, LOVE OF LIFE, SANTA BARBARA, MA PERKINS, THE ROMANCE OF HELEN TRENT, THE RIGHT TO HAPPINESS, AND SECRET STORM are getting.
