Marcy Rylan is similar to Kate Mulgrew in that she looks older than she actually is. When Kate started on Ryan's Hope she was 21 playing a romance with a man who was probably mid-40s and they seemed relatively the same age. That doesn't mean she was ugly and isn't an insult, but she looked mature for her age. I feel the same about Rylan. She just had a look and a feel that was too old for the character of Abby based on what they wanted to sell us. Her hair color could be a big part of why she looks old as well. I've never bought her as a blonde. This new actress may be 29, but she looks believable age-wise.

I'm curious if Rylan will have the same old lady problem when she joins GH. Kirsten Storms will be her contemporary and she looks and acts pretty young for her age. They'll be an interesting pair.

It's not just this board that thinks MR looked too old onscreen I was on other boards including non soap message boards and upon seeing MO's picture said Abby looks much younger now. And I never understood making MR Abby and then giving her that reality show story which was bad in general but looked worse with someone who visual looked mid 30s.

Even worse was they aged the kids up quickly with not one story in mind for them then had the parents have replacement babies!

    • The first one is Cass Winthrop dressed as Krystle Lake on Another World (not from his original creation of the character to hide from the loan shark Tony the Tuna, but at a romance convention trying to find out what had happened to Felicia who was missing). The second one is also Another World, Jake McKinnon as Doris although I don't recall what his purpose was.
    • I know there was one brief scene in the summer of 1989 where Lillian did mention Calla.. but in relation to her past relationship to Ross and it was to Roger while he was a patient at Cedars.  I think he was trying to pump her for information on Ross.. and for some reason, Calla's name came up.   I could see perhaps Beth mentioning that her mother Lillian was visiting Calla.. but not exactly giving any sort of details as to the going ons in Calla's life off screen.

    • They're neither great nor terrible AFAIK, but it is more a question of the streaming numbers in this day and age vs. actual TV airings. The Chibnall era reminded me much more of the crisis years, but I do think it's a very real possibility now as well due to the streaming bubble collapse affecting the show and its prospects.
    • ANYTHING to get her off the screen..she COULD have been interesting if she and Van had a few face offs..(there was a mild one of her going back to work...but I wanted something meatier "Bitch, I am Vanessa Chamberlain and I don't take advice from someone who followed the..career path you did!" I did like Alex's outright disdain for her.
    • Thanks @Vee for the commentary.    I haven’t even watched this season yet after  I couldn’t get past the couple episodes last season…like it was too Disneyified for my taste, although I did think it was a least better than the Chibnall era (but so is a lot of things). I’ll probably go back and binge it now. Hoping this season ends on a high note. I did read the ratings are terrible. As it stands I’m beginning to feel like what long time DW fans felt with S26 in 1989.
    • Yes, they are all on contract. Next.
    • I also never understood Alex's friendship with Sonni or keeping the secret of Marah's paternity.  Not exactly heartbroken about Ms. Sally being ushered to the Hereafter.

I'm sorry but I'm a glutton for punishment. Would love to see this woman OWNING the canvas. Telling off Leslie who tells her she's the head b!tch.
