Hi all- jumping in for some history help. Can someone remind me who these older characters are, like from the 60s-
Leslie- who is she?
And is it Bert or Meta married to the drunk guy? And I know Bert was Ed and Michael's mother, so is this drunk guy their father? Except they have an adult son interested in Leslie and the ages don't seem right....
Papa Bauer was the drunk guy's father? Sorry, I can't remember his name.
I really like the Leslie character and actress, shame there aren't better quality clips around.
Just trying to connect these characters to the more recent Bauers, I think I forgot it all.

Yes, Lloyd was re-cast quickly in a few short years. Why did they have a hard time keeping an actor in that role? I'm surprised Robert Reed signed on for a soap role. I would think he would feel it was beneath his "talents" the way he felt the Brady Bunch was. Surprisingly the BB was some of his best work. Just about everything else I have seen him in he comes across as pissy and annoyed.
Some great choices for writers and EP's listed above. It would have been cool if someone like Bill Bell had bought the show and revamped it. Maybe brought it back to CBS if necessary.
Sherry Mathis was really was great as Liza. Liza did take a hard hit when Travis was gone.
Do you think Travis could have been re-cast successfully when Rod Arrants decided to leave ?

When really they should be hiring new meat with fresh ideas. Someone more modern. You can use classic soap ideas but do something different. Getting someone young who grew up with soaps (not PASSIONS) is the best bet.

ALL: Who is your Mount Rushmore of soap actors/actresses

There are so many ways to look at this. If I was going actual soap actors that have transcended the genre into the public consciousness, it would be Tony Geary, Genie Francis, Susan Lucci, with Deidre Hall or Eric Braeden fighting for that last spot.
The best actors I feel the genre had? Beverlee McKinsey, Erika Slezak, Anthony Geary, and Larry Bryggman. I know Flannery is a well respected and incredible talent, but I wasn’t old enough to see her as Laura, and didn’t watch B&B.
Personal favorite actors that I just liked to watch the most? Victoria Rowell, Jane Elliot, Genie Francis, Robin Strasser.
My Rushmore writers are Claire Labine, Bill Bell, Agnes Nixon, and Pat Falken Smith.
The EP’s would be Wendy Riche, Gloria Monty, Wes Kinney, and maybe Robert Calhoun.
