AMC: The Prospect Park Era (old production thread)

Sounds strange, but I guess I want the shows to stay dead. Unless something happens soon after this announcement there is no real reason to bring them back again. And why do those silly Halloween things and similar if they have supposedly known for months that it was over? One of the worst things PP did was not communicating about anything!

I agree, that was beyond strange of them to do. I'm assuming perhaps the publicity people were just told to keep doing their jobs, since evidently no one knew it was over except the higher ups. The actors didn't even know.

Ugh this Bren is no better than the others -- I hate how it becomes a contest to announce what they assume first, becauyse some how this gives them some sort of credit in the industry or something?

It's like they just can't help themselves. It's more important to prove that they are in the know and are right. (and hopefully to get that info out there FIRST!) It's essentially the same as trolling and it ALWAYS gets a reaction, so.

and so many people believe it

I think it's more important to preserve what's seen as the internal consistency of the online soap fandom and that whole press circuit. If it's not in the club, it's not okay. A lot of these people seem to see OLTL and AMC going away after not being done "the right way" as righting some sort of balance where they all felt very out of sorts.

All I can say is watching three different soap operas masterminded by the same old network and, ostensibly, the same two dudes - which, BTW, is absolutely not going to happen - would get very old very fast. But it's what a lot of people know and are comfortable with. It's the landscape they understand and feel versed in. And it's dying out.

Whatever happens, happens. I always said if I got one good time out of this whole thing I'd be happy; the productions they put on were far more than I had hoped for so soon after cancellation. I've given up guessing the future. I'm just going to go watch some movies and screen the rest of this mess out for a while.

The weird thing is that they seem to think PP crashing and burning would somehow be good for the genre and the industry.

That's what baffles me.

AGREED. If PP cant get more seasons out of AMC & OLTL, then what this will say to other companies is dont try. It didnt work and if these soap blogs that feel ABC getting AMC/OLTL rights back will help the four remaining daytime network soaps, they are moronic

I feel like so much of this antipathy stems from that moronic situation with GH because otherwise there's no excuse for it. PP didn't take any viewers from the network soaps. I know some people tried to say that they did but that was just myopia and ignorance. At the same time I wonder if the soap press would've been supportive even if there hadn't been that stupidity. If PP had brought back AMC and GL and there hadn't been this ridiculous hostage crisis would they still be standing outside Stamford with a gas can and a lighter waiting for the chance to dance around a bonfire? I actually think they would. It's not PP they hate, it's change.
