Yes, they want it back the way it used to be. The same questions keep getting asked (sometimes innocently without anger or annoyance but moreso with misdirected anger/annoyance at PP):

Why can't _______ come back? Where is____? (aka How dare actors get other jobs?)

Why can't you put it back on tv? (As though it were an option right now and it's PP's fault it's not back on tv.)

I guess some people are afraid that the shows being online preclude them from turning up on tv anywhere and aren't appreciating that, if the shows' second chances fail, there won't be a third chance anywhere. It's not like the networks were beating one another off with a stick to get the shows when they were cancelled. They're not realizing that the shows being online and revamped may be the key to opening some closed doors when it comes to television.

(...sigh...)

You know, Darn...I always return to the same conclusion. I am thrilled for those who have campaigned like hell to get this show back. It's a classic story of triumph in the face of adversity. And I pray the reboots meet PP's expectations and so much more (in spite of what I said during my unfortunate, public breakdown earlier this week). But, in the end, my memories of what AMC used to be, when Pine Valley was both my home away from home and my ideal hometown, are etched too deeply into my mind for me to appreciate the new episodes. So, IOW: no, I don't think I will plan to watch. God bless 'em and all that, but...*shakes head*.

Yep. Elizabeth Snyder (ANOTHER WORLD, B&B, GH, and SUNSET BEACH) is her Co- Head Writer.

To be honest, cassadine, I am someone who believes ALL MY CHILDREN was "destroyed" long before '04. Don't get me wrong, I realize I'm in the minority here. However, for me, AMC stopped being AMC in the early '90's, when outrageous stories like Janet/Natalie and Kendall's introduction became the norm rather than the exception.

Mind you, I stuck with it for quite the while. (Same goes for GUIDING LIGHT, the only soap I love more than AMC; GL got "bad" for me around '95, but I still watched semi-regularly until Gus and Harley's wedding -- and then, of course, I picked it up again in the last few weeks, because I wanted to "say goodbye" to Springfield.) I'd watch for awhile, get pissed off (usually, because Megan McTavish was up to her old b.s.), stop, then watch again during another "low" emotional point in my life when I needed a little comfort food for the ears and eyes, so to speak. But it truly, truly was not the same for me after '93 or so.

    • Like why? That is one character who needed to be retired for decades. Yes, plural. There is literally nowhere else you can take this character anytime soon.  This show really needs to grow a pair and start killing off certain characters. And Martin wasn't one of them.  *coughs* Anyone with the last name Mitchell *coughs*  It's time.

    • I watched some of Friday's show. It was sweet to see Julie celebrate her wedding anniversary to Doug (their second - kudos to the writing team for remembering). Those moments with Julie are always so moving to me because you can tell they are straight from Susan's heart.  I know Patsy Pease hasn't been on DAYS in 15 years, but I still miss Kim in weeks that are so important for the Bradys and their history on the show. Michael Dietz was always a very likeable presence onscreen, even if he was never the greatest actor. That hasn't changed.  I was impressed with how well put together the montage was of John's various identities/memories. A number of those stories were ludicrous, and several of them never should have existed, but the way this was all crafted you could see just what a unique character all those parts made John...and how much Drake played the material as best he could, no matter what. The mirror scene was a great inclusion as that really wrapped everything of John together - viewers never truly knew who he was, nor did the people in Salem, but it didn't matter, as everyone loved him anyway.
    • Been a long time, but always worth the wait!  1973 will be coming soon!  Hooray!!

    • Thanks @Paul Raven  Amidst these terrible stories I see we get the arrival of Heather. I never knew Alice forged references for her. No wonder she later became a murderer. She was a criminal all along.  The Jeff/Monica/Rick story always seems so brazen and so depressing all at once - I can't imagine how people would have talked about it in the Internet/Twitter era.  I don't understand the choice to put Audrey and Steve through even more misery after they had been separated for almost a decade. The sudden inclusion of magazine stories is fascinating...and I'm not sure if it is ever a huge story narrative for GH after this point, even when characters on the show ran magazines. The end of the Leslie and Cam story did not need to be like this (and feels a little rushed). Had every woman on the canvas at this time been raped?
    • I am bewildered and fascinated by the choice to have John Loprieno and Adam Storke play out all their dramatic sequences here in clown makeup. They really took that circus motif seriously.

    • Does anyone have a favorite adult Russ Matthews?  Which actor did you like most?  Sam Groom, Robert Hover, or David Bailey??  And why?   And if Russ had returned late in AW's run, what actor would you have wanted to portray him?  One of the former actors, or someone new??
