That's good that they were renewed, but hopefully there were not any further budget cuts. The show can barely hide that it is operating on a meager budget as is.

well since it was only a one year contact, its possible Corday/SONY and NBC agreed to keep all the financial stuff the same. I don't know any of the details but I suspect there may not be any more to cut, so its an issue of keeping its current ratings or be canceled. it got real complicated back in the golden era where they were fighting who was getting what share of the huge profits lol now its make sure the show stays under budget and everybody is happy with just getting a little something.

No, the show is renewed through September 2014, as in NBC is only required to air the show through that point in time. The show can finish filming in June and air trough September is the point.

I knew that, I was just cracking a lil itty bitty joke :)

They should be wrapping up filming any day now then, right?

Great news for Days. Obviously NBC is still making money with the show. Here's hoping that someone wakes up and figures out how to make Days must see again.

As foreshadowed earlier this week, NBC has renewed Days of Our Lives through September 2014 and the soap’s 48th anniversary.

“We are thrilled to announce that Days is not going anywhere. It is NBC’s longest-running drama series by far and is one of the most historic brands in television,” said NBC entertainment president Jennifer Salke. “We commend Ken Corday and the entire creative team on continuing to keep the stories and characters fresh, exciting and relevant year after year.”

LOL....where have the stories been fresh and exciting??

What a team of mediocrity.

I wonder who Corday is sleeping with to get all of these renewals year after year....lol

Yay!! Now that Bruce Evans can't threaten to cancel DAYS for at least another year, it's time to fire Tomlin/Whitesell. I'm officially off their bandwagon. smile.png

Same here, Toups. DAYS has received the Mother of All Reprieves. Use it, and use it wisely.

They won't though, no one with any integrity wants to come close to this show, and for very good reason. Regardless of who comes in, NBC and Corday will always be at war, and no creative persons wants to be in the middle of that.

Not true, Alvin. I'd love to get my hands on DAYS, and I have loads of integrity. Unfortunately, what I don't have are connections and a track record.

NBC/Sony/Corday are always going to power struggle. NBC picked the current crop of writers/prodcuers (i think...) and it isnt working. Who picked the last ones? Corday or Sony? Whoever didnt needs a turn, lol.

Yay for Days. I never really doubted it would happen. I am sure in Nov 13-Jan14 people will be proclaiming the death as they have for the last 10 years and it will be renewed again...

Gary's a nice guy, a reasonably solid producer, but he's a mediocre writer at best. His taste is questionable. And his pal Whitesell is terrible and always was, dating back to OLTL. So of course Ken "Sam's Club" Corday keeps hiring and rehiring them. They need to go.

Khan, it's a nice thought but we both know Ken Corday would fire you in six months too just in time for the next five-page feature interview with him on how much he loved your work but it was time to go "back to basics" with another Plan to Save DAYS. That's what he does to everyone.
