I think certain head writers are more suited to certain soaps than others. Just because they're successful with one doesn't mean that success will transfer to another. McTavish had some success at AMC, but was much less successful at GL and GH. Maybe AMC was the show she liked writing for the best, and was why her ratings were better there, at least for a time.

When I mention ratings and her being my favorite writer, it's always AMC I'm referencing. Same for LB.

Megan was by no means perfect at AMC (she would start out good and then by year 3 be a mess; additionally, I didn't watch her late 1990s return), but even at her worst with story-lines I still think she had a way with the characters. As a conscious viewer and not just a child watching the show, I loved her good work more than I loved anybody else's good work on AMC.

I totally agree, but everyone knows that already. I can honestly say that in the ten years I watched AMC, McTavish's first two years and the final year-and-a-half were the best. I don't know if I would have ever gotten into the show as much as I did if 2005-2010 AMC was my first taste of the show.

Also...ugh. I'm not here for five-year jumps. I loathe those things, and I find it especially unnecessary in AMC's case. They could easily wrap up the cliffhanger and jump into the present -- a year and a half is far enough into the future to write out certain characters.
