HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

with smith and pepperman as ep choices, dont expect any veteran soap writers. PP will be going cheap so expect to see a casiello, fissell, jill hurst, martha byrne, chappell.....crystal friended pepperman immediately after the announcement on facebook. hmmmm.

Please no Tom Casiello. I have seen enough overhyped, Twitter-twitting soap "writers" to last a lifetime. I still remember how hot we were supposed to be because he rhymed "Jack Abbott" with "black rabbit."

Jill Lorie Hurst is a good writer.

I loved Finn Wittrock as Damon. He was so obviously an amazingly talented young actor who put most of his acting partners to shame. He stole almost every scene, imo. I adored Damon and was so looking forward to his inevitable affair with Liza. It was never clear if he was fired or if he just wanted out of his contract, but it was obvious that the new regime was favoring talentless Asher over him. Regardless, I was thrilled to read his glowing theatre reviews. Too many young soap actors stay too long on the soaps when they should leave. I certainly hope that he stays away from the soaps and ends up a movie or prime time star in a few years times.

Agreed. Leah Laiman co HW OLTL during that very rough post Malone, pre Labines era (I believe with Jean Passanante again...) which was just a muddle of a mess of a period--I can barely even remember stories there, so that's where I judge her.

On theother hand I'd give Addie Walsh a shot--I liked her short year at Loving where it seemed to have a Nixon-ish quality and she certainly knows her AMC where, acording to other writers she was fairly well respected. Not sure if she's kooky or not tongue.png

Laiman was one of those who wrote the "Viki hypnotized to shoot Kevin in a rage" story that Erika Slezak hated.

I'd page Jordi Vilasuso anytime.

Tom Casiello was way too fond of himself on the demon Twitter, even after turning up at several dreadful soap regimes. I remember people praising his dialogue as the second coming, but all I could think was, "didn't he write under Dena Higley at OLTL?"

ETA: Finn Wittrock was fantastic, IMO. So of course the incompetents running AMC before the end team took over wasted him. I thought he was the best story Tad had had in years. Losing Damon was a horrible mistake.

To be fair, it's hard not to praise gems like "Cut the crap."

Maybe thats what he tells his bf when they get into a fight....LOL

I could care less if he does the internet AMC or OLTL...I wont be seeing it anyways...lol...its not like it will be on TV....he can stay writing for that Wrestling [!@#$%^&*]

He gave that dialogue to Katherine Chancellor so that's probably what I remember the most.

I have realized that my only fond memories of MAB's run, or just about the only ones, was the absolute evisceration of the show here in 2009, before people stopped giving a [!@#$%^&*]. Fun times. Well, I miss MarkH, but other than that, fun times.

So why is Walt bashed for commenting about PP but Jordi isn't *smh*

JV's tweet was ambiguous, he could have been contacted by PP. WW was practically begging people to make an uproar about him and then he leaves a post saying "Wow I can't believe how many likes and comments I got". Very transparent.

Walt Willey: Wow! I can't believe that my post about my hopefully being a part of this new revival of AMC got 3,898 LIKES and 830 COMMENTS! Amazing! I love you guys and thank you ALL for the 25+ years of love and support! AMC fans are the best!!!!

@JordiVilasuso Wishing everyone a happy and safe NYE! BTW, Is someone paging Dr.Griffin Castillo? ;-) #AMC @prospectpk

I have nothing against ol' Walt. He can say what he likes, he's earned it.

Among other dreck.

She was horrible at OLTL. I remember an article in which she bragged how she was known for breaking "supercouples"at Days and that she was going to do the same at OLTL. For a year, I suffered through daily doses of Marty-Patrick and Andy-Antonio and little else. If you weren't one of them, you were mere filler.

  • Member

I remember that too. Marlena de la Croix wrote an article about it at the time, and it's success at DAYS. I think she didn't realize that this works when your supercouples are actually interesting and when your soap has energy. OLTL at that time felt and looked stale and cheap in every way.

I loved Patrick and Marty and Andy and Antonio - when Malone was there. After that team left you could tell OLTL was largely spinning its wheels on their status quo for years, until JFP. She gutted OLTL, but she sure woke me up and got me watching again, starting with the Georgie Phillips story.

I loved Patrick and Marty. To this day, they remain one of my favorite soap couples.
